Reading everything here I am wondering if those of us that have older ( 5 + years) are just better batteries. I'm thinking along the lines of buying a new refrigerator replacing the one that lasted 20 years only to learn the that new one is only good for 8? Are the newer batteries only good for 2 years by design?

I Usually go with an Interstate MTP-48/H6. It was a standard battery for a Mercedes Benz diesel back in the day, I don't remember what model. Specs are pretty solid, and fits in the S4.

Cold Cranking Amps 730
Cranking Amps 910

Cranks over a hicomp stroker easily even when heat soaked.

The best purchase I have made battery wise for the 928 was a trickle charger. I cannot remember the last few battery brands that I've used. I do remember being disappointed with one of them but then realized what I needed more than fancy words on a battery was a battery maintainer. Ta-dum.
