Greg Brown Super Dampner
To say I am shocked at how much difference the GB SD makes on my idle would be a gross understatement. I am floored.
Excellent job sir. Amazing product.

If there was a previous thread describing your problem, I must have missed it. I'm curious what idle issues you had that were fixed?

yeah..on my list.
Greg will chime in Im sure..but its overall dimensions are the same as the stock unit correct? I ask as i have a supercharger on my car and the alignment of the belts is critical obviously.

Jeff I noticed a reduction in higher rpm vibrations, more of a slight buzzing, after installing Greg's dampner. No real difference at idle for me.
What shocked me was the condition of the original dampner. The rubber material was totally shot, all dried up and cracked. No way the original dampner was doing what it was designed to do.

No worries there as the hub is the same. This is definitely one product I recommend to everyone.

There was no previous thread. It was time to do TB/WP job and I knew my damper was aged to say the least. Replaced it with Gregs and all is right in the world.

What he noticed, I did too. Once the balancer is compromised (but not yet fully broken)..you dont know..but once you resolve it, you KNOW it's better.
Lots of "feelings" of subtle noise and vibrations the are different at different RPMs, subtlely...just aren't there anymore.

My next timing belt change is going be a costly one. I'm almost certain to need new sprockets, and it sounds like this should be on the list as well.

I would be willing to bet, that any in-use damper past 30yrs old, is absolutely due for a replacement.
Bad news is, a new OE damper is a 30+yr old unit...if you can find one...just part of 'Old Car 101'.

A tired original damper is the primary theory behind my worn front main bearing. All of the others looked perfect. If I can ever put that engine back together again, Greg's damper is certainly on the to-do list.

I can very well believe that but my specific point of interest was Jeff's comment pertaining to improvement at idle speed. My expectation is that GB's kit will have many subtle benefits at higher rpms/high loads. Not saying idle is irrelevant as it is always pleasing to have a good idle but it seemed rather odd that idle speed was "the star of the show" as it were.
