February 2020 Panorama - Vanster!
When I took this out of the mailbox today, I couldn't believe my eyes. A F-n 928 on the cover!!! It looked familiar too. It's Vanster's. I haven't read the article yet. Here's the cover. BEAUTIFUL Van!!
BTW, I think, a 928 hasn't been on Panorama cover since 2003. And that was a group shot

This would be the article the 'research' for which resulted in a dual-disc clutch broken so thoroughly that even Greg couldn't figure out how they managed it?

I believe that article, along with the writer/test driver/clutch destroyer, was sh!tcanned and that this is a completely new article about this magnificent vehicle.

This is True. the writer of the article in the issue had nothing to do with what happened the first time.

We got really lucky to have Mike Musto write this article. Finding an automotive journalist that can write as well as understand and appreciate 928's was a gift. Also Michael Alan Ross, good guy, and most gifted eye as a photographer told me that maybe he could get a cover shot. "I'm sure you tell this to all your clients" Ha! During this entire process not to mention the fried clutch from the scribe that was first hired by PCA, I got to know Rob Sass the editor of Panorama and other members of the PCA group. Everyone that I personally came in contact with has a great appreciation and love for the 928. Recall the editorial that Rob wrote praising the 928 last year. It became sort of a standing moniker that this was a car that could tell stories. We had a story to tell and it has now been told and maybe this is just chapter 2. It was really important that the article mentioned all those that put it together and hopefully others will follow.
I have put about 25k miles on this motor without any issues whatsoever. I'm pushing for 100k and beyond. This time the insurance company is not going to tell me to sell it and go back to a VW bus.

Oh cool, I didn't know Mike was writing for Panorama. He obviously knows how to drive a 928. Was this before or after he sold his '86? Look forward to reading the article.
And Van, that cover photo is poster material! Hopefully they can send you a digital version to get one made.

Nate, I believe Mike sold is 86 about 5 months before he drive my car. Poster for sure.
Everyone that drives is is always a bit conservative with the throttle. I have to push them to lean into it. It's really bulletproof and likes WOT.

I had an opportunity to drive Vans terrific car at Sharktoberfest.
Its really smooth and powerful, and pretty.
everywhere you look it screams money,, thusly well spent.
The paint, the the interior, the engine ,
a very nice example that can also be daily driven.
Well done to all who put this machine together!

Nice work from all involved! I'm starting to lose track of all the great 928 rehabilitations/ restorations that have been surfacing over the last few years...it's just what we all needed.
