Someone mentioned the Summit cutter a while back. A quick search finds this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-900511 for a bunch less than the Amazon option, with free shipping too. Let the filter drain down while the cutter finds its way to you. Lacks the high-speed ball-bearing rollers, but should be fine for home use.

Well I figured out where the tiny red flakes are from. My filter wrench jacked up the oil filter during removal. Wouldn't be surprised it some of those fragments are parts of the filter scraped off from the tension of using a strap wrench.

Going to have to start drinking coffee before I do a 6am oil job.

Any recommendations where I can get a dedicated 928 oil filter wrench?

In hind sight, it's funny how some of those shavings are the same color as the oil filter.
