IB and the 928 Technical Forum - Statement required please?

I agree with Roger complaint.
I never saw the thread, I don't know who IB is but,
Banning with no explanation , in an unrelated forum is unwarranted.

So it appears the OT Forum is gone - unless it's a paid members only - which I will not be with Sean banned. Here's the thing - there's much Sean and I don't agree on politically, and there's much we do - but we respect each other - period. OT forums are OT - and many of us avoid them because we have enough crap to deal with right now. IB you are being shortsighted and literally cutting off your nose to spite your face. Sean has given so much here and so much content (and membership and advertising revenue) - better to give him a warning or remove him from the OT than from Rennlist altogether. Yet another reason you rarely see me here anymore. IB has ruined RL.

I am too sensitive.
Amazing what people will do when they get butt hurt. This forum has a singular focus to support the 928. How dare you ban people because you don’t agree with their political leanings.
Vote with our feet we will.

I dont follow OT, or political page. I really dont understand why people want to come on to a page on the deep dark web and argue their view with others of opposing views. Rarely will anyone change sides, or opinions.
That being said, I do not know what the banning offense was, but i assure you Sean is one of the most valued assets on the 928 technical board. IMO there are 20 or so guys that are experienced mechanics on the board, and he is probably in the top 5.
Unless the offense was so egregious there is no reparations, Bring the man back.

I am with Roger and all who support his position. This would not be the first on line forum that lost its reason for existing and destroyed itself; and it likely won't be the last.

I'm with Rog as well.
I think I've been to the OT forum once or twice years ago, but I see enough of that on FB and that's not why I'm a long time member here.
IB needs to address the issue with those affected and do the right thing.

I do frequent OT and PC, I don't post much though. I am aware of what happened weeks ago that started all the unrest. However, I have seen zero reason to ban members from the technical forums. To me looks like a childish temper tantrum response. I'm with Roger, we deserve an explanation.

I'm a newbie but specifically came to RL to gain knowledge about my recently purchased 928. I need everyone's expertise. I frequent several other forums for Boxster & Cayman content and don't have the time or desire to go to any of the OT sections, so I have no idea what was said or done to get members banned. If other people's opinions are going to trigger knee jerk reactions, then maybe those sections of the forum should be closed and the forum strictly focus on technical topics. People seem to be able to come together regardless of political bend when it comes to fixing and enjoying cars.
I've been a long time member of 986forum and still learn and contribute there even though I currently own 2 987s and haven't owned a 986 since 2008. Recently several new members have been prone to include political opinions along with their technical expertise. And it's not just in the OT sections. Once their political thoughts enter a thread, it triggers some folks on the other side of the fence and then the thread is totally derailed with insults and keyboard fisticuffs. It gets boring very quickly. If you don't want that on RL, get rid of those OT sections and keep the rest of the forum strictly technical. My guess is you won't get a lot of resistance from the members with that kind of strategy.
Just the opinion of someone from the outside.

I'm with Roger as well. At the end of the day if IB has an issue with discussions in the OT forum all they have to do is kill the OT forum all together, there is no need to ban people for anything that went on in OT.
I actually wish they would clean up some of the regional forums. The Canadian forum is constantly OT with a few key peeps that just like to fight with others and that's where IB should focus their attention when OT crap creeps into technical or regional forums.

I am a paying member and this is my Opinion
Politics are Politics have been and always will be.
that should have no bearing on education for our Community. This forum does just that.
Don't fire our instructors !
While we may not always agree on certain matters
We all agree OUR 928 community has the pride of ownership and desire to be educated by all of our top mechanical members. Without these people to help us and guide us we will suffer undue hardship. This is the backbone of this forum for many of US and why we are paying members.
Some quotes from the MEMBERS of OUR 928 community.
These individuals should be allowed to stay in the forum or the forum will begin to shrink and fade away..
These quotes were plucked out from other member's post on this topic.
"IB should ban the Political and Off Topic forums. What is Rennlist but for Porsche enthusiasts and technical support."
"I agree with Rog. Banning with no explanation , in an unrelated forum is unwarranted. "
"I agree with Roger's comments completely. There seems to be a level of toxicity happening now on many fronts with Rennlist and banning knowledgeable resources from the forums seems to only add to this."
"IB does need to provide some directional feedback on where these forums are going and it really should not be the mods, who are exceptionally trying to hold together any unravelling which seems to be happening."
"The OB topics are the Wild, Wild West of Rennlist and as such should be able to function separately from the technical sections."
"Furthermore, if someone is posting in the political sections, they should be allowed to voice their opinions regardless of what side they are on.
I agree with Roger. I come here to learn and could care less what happens in the OT board. This has been a great resource for knowledge. Don’t let that change!
Just to name a few without meaning to leave others out in a little list that is woefully incomplete:
Hans S
Dave R
Roger T
Greg B
Carl F
Tom A
Sean R
Dave C"
