Default Saving Euro #447 ‘78 petrol Blue pasha 5 spd single mirror

Hi all, I just bought #447 which is pretty much my ideal 928. It’s a non runner (from sitting since 1996) and I’m looking forward to getting it going once it arrives.

That’s the first challenge. Due to Covid I couldn’t fly to Ottawa to trailer it back to PEI, and no one wants to ship a non running car so, I’m having a race shop get it running. We will see how that goes. I’m not sure their CIS credentials. Any 928 experts in Ottawa?

the car has a cool history, owned by two different Canadian and American fighter pilots in Germany, then shipped here in 96 and stored.

I’m sure I’ll need a lot of help from you all as I bring the car back to life.

Top gun shot.

Car at its prime.

Nice project, and thank you for saving her

I've got her mini-twin, at home (1/18th).

Wow, imagine getting out of your jet and maxing a new 928 on the autobahn in the 70's. What a life!

Good luck with the project, I too love blue pascha, part of my S2 backdate in progress...

Yes! a great candidate to save. Hopefully it has had minimal "creativity" of replacement items over the years, there are many many 1977-78 only parts on these. Interesting that it has fender markers, I thought that VIN #9288100480 was the first to have these, but i question that.

Looks substantially correct AND a very rare NON-aircon car!

And not "spoilered" or F**king Federalized!

Subscribed!

I’m not sure it could have been optioned less. Either lightness or cheapness. Either way.

no AC
single mirror
manual seats
no sunroof

Wow! IMHO, pretty much the perfect combo for an early car (although I do like AC as I get older), and very collectable. Slick, smooth & lightweight... she'll be a stunner with a little work. Great history and you're also starting with a very good dash & that awesome '78 Euro wiper! I'm very jealous!

Good luck with the project! Can't wait to see the progress.

Unless a shop has a fair amount of 928 experience, your experience with them may not go well, CIS makes that double. I think I would look into a private party single car carrier who can move it as is. The main reason the big carriers want the car running is that they may shift them to several different haulers during a move.

Love the Petrol Pasha combo. And a very early Euro version as well. Very cool. I would be concerned what a local speed shop may do wrong while trying to get her running. Hopefully there is a 928 expert to be found that can work on her.

Also, You are likely to have many question in the near future. We all do when we acquire our first 928. I suggest creating a "signature" that will appear below every post you make. It's helps others assist you when they know what year and options you car has. A good example for your signature might be ..."Euro '78 Petrol and Pasha 5 speed, single mirror.#477- The Blue Bastard" ..just spitballin' here Congrats on a great early car!

thanks crushingday, that’s the challenge. I was hoping someone here might hook me up with a specialist near , or in Ottawa.

It’s 1300kms between me and the car so a flatbed is prohibitive in cost. COVID makes logistics even more tricky.

I have made sure the shop has the correct CIS troubleshooting procedures, as well as the shop manual. Fingers crossed a local expert will show up and read this.

Also, thanks for the signature suggestion.

If the car has been parked a long time the CIS work could be extensive/expensive at a shop, and there's electrical to do before it runs as well.

Something to consider: Transportation costs may be high but at least they will be a "known" variable in your journey, and a minor footnote on the balance sheet of a fully sorted car. Compare this to the "costs" of the unknown results of technicians with unknown qualifications feeling their way through and into your special and substantially virgin 928. They might get the car running but amount of things they can goober up along the way is staggering.

Put the car on uship, get it winched onto a trailer and get it the hell out of there.

Good advice. I've just created a uship listing.
