Great result and again, thank you for sharing the information. Luckily for me, the two spare G28.55 that I have shifted great, but one has spalling on the crown wheel, so whenever I pluck the courage to be violated by Porsche for the pinion and crownwheel I would take inspiration by your thread....

rjtw, any thoughts on your rebuild after a few years of driving?

Offered only as a "head's up", the entire world seemed to run out of the Chinese made engaging teeth (yes, none of the gear manufacturers ever made these separately or offered them as a spare part and 100% of the ones that were available were Chinese made), installed on the gears, which wear out, from grinding the gears, as the synchros wear out.
We had a large "run" of these made by a world renowned US gear teeth manufacturer and have them in inventory.

Additionally, we also rebuild so many of these transmissions and buy the parts is such large volumes, that we get an excellent discount on all of the pieces and will not be undersold, within the US.
We also have every "tidbit" you could ever require.
However, since you are in Europe, Rose Passion might be equally as economical and be cheaper on the shipping costs.

Great thread!

Only one question, is it necessary to use a mounting lube if I put the pieces together like the rotating assembly in an engine?

Greg,
I think in a small parcel you can ship a lot of very expensive transmission parts around the world. The biggest part of customs is VAT , here in Germany 19 % in the other European countries a little bit more.

If this is noted somewhere and I missed it, where did you get the new reverse lockout spring, I was under the impression those were NLA? Is someone making a new version of them that are less prone to breakage? Also surprised that with all that work put into it you didn't opt to put a LSD in (Unless there is an LSD and I missed that too)

Does anyone happen to know if the G28 carrier unit will fit a 911 915 gearbox?

What is a carrier unit?

EDIT: Sorry- you mean the pinion bearing carrier? I don't believe they're cross-compatible.
