Do I delete side molding????
This car needs a fresh paint job and before I spend all that money, I have to consider how poorly the primer and paint sticks to Porsche rubber side molding.
I have had 2 928 cars and both have had ugly peeling painted molding.
Is this car too cool to modify, will it ruin it's value?
Car in question is the Blue one.
Since it's an ROW car, I am leaning toward removal of the marker lights installed by the federalization company.
1982 928S Euro
Factory sunroof delete.
5 speed manual (sorry Roger)

Yes. If you’re filling the holes for the side markers you can fill the holes for the rubstrips.

It's a very personal choice. Some folks like them, many (most?) don't.
If you're worried about lowering the value, don't. The repaint (even good quality, even same color) will do that as much if not more.
And 928 rubstrips aren't 'rubber'. They're aluminum. Properly prepped, paint sticks just fine.

"You are under my power. Vhenn I sneeze, you vill do esss I zsay." I agree with those that like the smooth-skin look of the delete. Because of how the car sits (low) I wonder how effective the strips actually are at preventing parking dings. But there is always the chance that the strips will prevent that one ding waiting to happen.

I may be the minority here, but I lean more towards keeping them. I really like the look of some without for sure but they need to be squatty and wide to be able to pull it off and a good color. I think the strips can break up a sometimes "slab" look if it doesn't have the proper stance. I've seen deletes with stock wheels and tires and the height and width just looks like something is missing.

As mentioned, its a personal choice. I didn't buy my car or any car for an investment. Bought to drive and enjoy.
i deleted my rubstrips, rear wiper, headlight and windshield washers. Also bought and modified a spare windshield sil and filled the front wiper holes for a front wiper delete ( which is reversable). I left the side marker lights as i liked the look with them.
As for the rear wing, that was a tough choice. I love the way they look with out them and the way they look with them....once i filled the holes it was a permanent modification. I left the holes and have some color matched plugs for the holes.....its not ideal but i can swap the look back and forth.
Each their own.

The link to the "wide body conversion was extremely helpful and the comments from all are helping me too.
I have now remembered that I have to at least roll the fender lips if they are not already done pre-paint.
Clearly, Steve has me hypnotized, so there's that...

if your going for a repaint contact Kiln_Red on here or Austin Embry
Great 928 painter and you do the taking things apart he does everything else,
you put it back together.
Last I checked it was 8K for a Glassurit 55 line paint job.
NOTE this link shows painting a car like yours in the same Prussian Blue

Yes, lose them if you're already doing the paint/body work. I loved the look of my '85 without the rub strips. My '88 with the rub strips slightly annoys me every time I look at it, Lol.

just looked at my deleted pair. They are definitely plastic on an 87. you can bend and twist them and watch the paint crack.
