So out of 10 cars that were represented to the sheriff as "Belonging to Rich" during whatever process the cars went through from being in a shop somewhere to being in a sheriff's auction, a few (so far) have been claimed by POSSIBLE rightful owners. I contacted one friend already today who has claimed privately to me for about three years to have lost a car to Garage928, so there may be more POSSIBLE rightful owners surfacing. It looks like at least some of the cars MAY have had their ownership misrepresented to the court/ sheriff by Garage928. If this turns out to be the case I would think that Garage928 MAY have bigger legal problems that cross over from the Civil arena to the Criminal arena. I'm sure a lot more data will present itself soon.
RVM has been misrepresenting for years. I have no idea where the 87 Black on Black S4 auto with sport seats I paid for is located right now. I had someone check the lot where he was moving the cars from Creamer Road to the transmission shop to hold them temporarily while he found a place to hide. I will be at the auction just for laughs. I hope the piece of **** shows up.

I have reason to believe the car is in a forum members possession now based on post activity.

if you know you have my car, I emailed you about this as well, please reply to the email I sent. I will be discussing this with the sheriff tomorrow. We had planned to file a theft report to add to the existing ones filed from other customers. I guess mine will be added now to the other 3.

I suggest you contact the Forsyth County Sheriff's Dept. The Sheriff handling the auction and the civil suit is not the same one that is handling the criminal charges.I deleted the detective's name due to overwhelming response. Just contact the sheriff's office as he said each case has different timing and issues.

Reading this absolutely makes my skin crawl. I can not imagine how he was able to continue in business for so long while harming so many...

Would love to be at the sentencing hearing!

I have spoken up and posted about Richard Van Meeteren’s business in the past, and hopefully gave 928 devotees at least one solid data point to cause them to do more due diligence. As a successful business person and owner of several Porsches, I am not ashamed to flat out say that he has cost me thousands of dollars, this is a fact backed by a detailed paper trail. After a lot of wrangling with RVM, I finally extracted my car, in pieces, from Garage 928 in October 2019 and never stopped trying to speak with him and seeking avenues to recover. Obviously Ms. Shokoohi was more clever and resourceful than me, and I loudly applaud her for applying legal justice. And I know of others in the Atlanta community who have tried unsuccessfully. This has been a long journey and it is not over. I love 928’s and truly hope these 10 cars find good homes. Regardless, it goes without saying that these cars need to be gone over thoroughly and/or bid at prices that allow for the unknown.

I hope the sheriff sees the lien I have with this POS. I hope he gets what he deserves along with his rich complacent doctor wife of his. He owes a lot of money to many. I wish him a disease there is no cure for.

I wish I had seen your posts before I started dealing with him.I thought I had vetted him thoroughly. I hope you get the apologies you are due as many people attacked you over your comments. You were just trying to warn others that this guy was not trustworthy. I am doing the same and I really hope this is the end of him. I know of a least a dozen people he has taken for $$ and parts. No telling how many others are out there. As a lifelong car geek and collector, I find this beyond disgusting.

One way it goes on is that word-of-mouth has lost its original bite that it had before the internet. Back in the day if you ripped enough people off it got around pretty quickly, then your reputation was set. Business survival was difficult after this. For every position one can post online an opposite postion can be posted. It becomes a war of clicks and online presence where many of the truly objective consumers of the information throw up their hands in disgust from all the conflicting claims. It almost doesn't matter because the internet continues to supply an endless stream of far reaching new customers (victims)

Even in this space IB has be careful, for their own liability protection, about what is allowed to be and remain posted, so moderators often close or least threaten to close/ ban topics like this from continuing. This has happened on here in the past on this exact subject matter with a complaining customer who has already posted in this thread. Unless you all want this thread to disappear hold off on the name calling and personal attacks, and be patient. The machinery of justice sacrifices speed to achieve maximum torque.

It would be great if IB had a policy to follow for weeding out bad business actors, there is certainly more work to do in this area.

In real estate, you can buy a warranty deed that guarantees that the seller holds title to the property, or a quit-claim deed, where the seller only transfers whatever his interest is, undefined, potentially in dispute - not uncommon due to uncertainties that arise in real estate (e.g., adverse possession, bad surveying, informal subdivision). The sheriff is auctioning off the equivalent of 'quit-claim' deeds to these cars, and it appears the uncertainties are epic. Got a warehouse and like sport? Buy all ten for cheap - maybe you'll end up with solid titles to a few when the dust settles.

Y'all should have gotten ahold of the Polecat. You'd of had you're cars, money, and justice AKA revenge!

Believe me we all thought about confronting him directly, but unlike the POS he is, we have jobs and are upstanding citizens and would have wound up in jail. Also the law protects the non-paying POS. Ask me as I have already spent close to $10k in legal fees against this POS. Can only wish for some undefined disease for him. COVID would be too good for him at the moment.

Don't count on the Sherriff to get it right. I bought a car at an IRS auction sale years ago . I asked more than once and to more than one agent- are there any leins? Response was they have been cleared- it's good to go. Went to register it, whoops there was a lein-- a nightmare . Called the IRS - their response was '"we never told you that" . They will say anything to get the sale. Beware
