One odd S4 question - two not-so-odd questions
1989 S4 Automatic
First two questions are pretty basic (although I couldn't find an answer using search)......and sorry for the silly basic questions, but I recently just started driving the 928 again so everything is "new" to me lol
1. Should the white letters on the automatic shift plate illuminate? Mine do not. Just wanted to make sure before I pull it apart looking for a bulb.
2. Should the interior lights turn on when you park/shut the car down or do they only turn on when the doors/rear hatch are open?
.
...and now for the odd question...
Does your 928 "roll forward". What I man by this is that whenever I am at a stop light and take my foot off the gas - the car will continue to move forward if I don't apply the brake. It will even make the car climb slight hills, so it almost acts like it has "hill hold" feature. I also have a Cayenne and it doesn't seem to move much at all when off throttle. Maybe the Cayenne has a "Hold" feature on flat surfaces I don't know about (it does have "Hill Hold", that keep the car from rolling back on hills).
At idle, my RPM sit right around 600/650, so the idle is not high, yet the car acts like there is still a slight throttle input when my foot is off the pedal. I know automatic cars usually will still roll a bit when off throttle, but my 928 seems a bit extreme lol
Thanks!

1 no lights behind the letter on the shift quadrant.
2 the lights come on when the door pin switch is activated
3 the car will roll forward with the foot off the brake in drive at idle.
BUT if you have thicker floor mats make sure the gas pedal is free to return

Auto hold, hill hold.... these are really relatively new things. Remember - your car is a true vintage piece... it works similarly to every other torque converter auto of that era.
