Default 1987 S4 radiator fans not blowing

where is the switch located which controls the radiator cooling fans...mine have stopped functioning. Normally they will kick of even after the ignition is shut off & is there a way to test the switch. or could it be something else causing the no-functioning???
thanks for any help

Did you check the positive battery post to ensure the leads for the fan are clean and secure?

There's at least 100,000 words written, on this forum, about S4 radiator fans....what the possible problems are, how to trace the problems, what does what...etc.
"Search" would be your friend.

I'd check the fuses and clean the small battery connectors on the positive terminal of the battery and what Greg said ^^.

There's some great information here:

I'd start by checking for power at the fan fuses initially and work your way along from there.

Hope this helps!

I’ll try to help you. Here are a few easy things to check:

As mentioned, dig in to the CE panel and confirm that all associated fuses / relay are good.

Next go to the front of the car and open the hood. Standing at the front look down at the bottom right of the radiator, you will see a connector. Unplug that and then turn the key to Run, both fans should come on.

If they don’t come on then next I would get a 12V battery and apply both a Ground and Power to each fan, directly; you’ll need to get under the car to unplug their connectors to do this unless you are much more agile than I am. If they don’t run at full speed it’s time to buy new fans. ETA it doesn’t matter which of the two prongs at the fan that you add Ground or Power to.
