What suspension is on the car? I'd be interested in joining for the 4 shocks and springs, the fuel distributor and WUR.

Everyone, Joel has turned it over to State Farm. It's gone to salvage.

Just checked out the auction site's description. Amazed at the repair cost.

All right, which one of your buddies snagged the air snorkels off of it, before the insurance company picked it up?

Joel,
Sorry to hear this and glad you're okay. Also glad it wasn't the euro! Very impressed that your group stepped up and helped you out, if you had my 928 friends group you'd probably still be sitting there

Joel told me how he worked up the repair cost for the insurance company. It sounds huge, but he did it just the way an authorized repair shop would have: He estimated in everything that looked damaged or would have taken energy from the impact. Then he priced new parts whenever possible, and when he couldn't find new parts he found the very best used parts.

It added up fast.

A bit sad to see it sitting outside in the hot sun waiting to be auctioned with good rear leather quarters. Life can be cruel to cars once they take a hit...

I missed to post at $7,000, shoulda, woulda, coulda, but alas I'm better off waiting for a 87 or newer parts car...

Was the payout decent from the insurance company?

I had a friend that had a '85 parts car for a long time, I had picked many parts off the car , hood, engine, doors most of the interior, torque tube, trans wheels ect. It then sat for a couple years, and I think it ended in the crusher. Unfortunate it had a good RH rear quarter and all the rear suspension, could have got all for a few hundred. A lot of this is about timing.
