1985 4-speed Auto hard shift

So for clarification, which rubber vacuum hose was replaced?
The one from the engine to the hard line on top of the TT, or the one from the TT hard line to the transmission vacuum modulator?

Engine to TT. It was found when replacing expansion valve and tracing vacuum for the heater control.
NOTE: A previous mechanic had told me that he tested the vacuum at the transmission and that it was "fine". Roger and Greg both made a comment about doing it and seeing for myself. Since posting this update yesterday, I have put 150 miles on this car, and it shifts perfect at all speeds and in all ranges. This car was the least favorite of my three to drive, but that has changed.

Thanks for the clarification and congratulations!
Glad it was an easy fix and you were rewarded with a lower priced 928.
Enjoy.

And, I appreciated your input and help Constantine.
Honestly, the whole thing needed sorting out. I have a feeling that the previous owner sent the car to various mechanics in an effort to resolve the hard shift and flare issues that were likely caused by perished rubber lines. Early on in my ownership of this car, I unfortunately took the word of a mechanic that the hoses were fine, and that it "held vacuum" at the modulator. I try to do a lot of my own work, but have been suffering from a blown disc in my back. I have been farming it out lately to local mechanics, taking them my parts, and trying to give the hints on where to look.
Thanks again for helping us keep these cars on the road.

Just changed my last post since it did come off snarky, apologies.
As far as your blown disc, very sorry to hear about that. Just went through something similar and it completely shut me down for almost two (2) months. Hope you get better soon.
Cheers.
