timing belt all done wrong
So! My 928 has not been seeing streets for couple years (ran my startup, no money and then went bust tnx to corona). Now have steady income and it is time to start working on it. Bought the flywheel lock and disassembled front end, right?
Actually took off the starter and had to open anti roll bar joints… Ok then realized to take clutch cylinter and pushrod out…
While taking the belt off I vaguely remembered something about 45 degrees and stuff but my adhd got the best of me and rotated engine to tdc zero and took belt off. Cams were in correct position but of course the other cam rotates when belt is taken off.
SO
I know all 928 gods are angry at me and for a reason! But can I remedy this by putting back the original belt, check markings on cams align and rotate engine 45 btdc and do the stuff like said in so many guides or am I already like done for? Please, help suggestions. Currently she is at tdc 0 with belt taken off, cams nor crank have not been moded around.

I did the same thing with a 32-valve car a couple years ago. I was using a guide for a 16-valve car and didn't know about the 45 degree thing. When I put the belt on, I carefully rotated the cams back to the marks. The car ran fine (until something unrelated happened).

with the crank and cams at close to TDC just string a new belt,
remove the rotors from the cam pulleys use the 30/32 mm washers under the cam pulley bolts to turn the cams,
NOTE no more than a few teeth either way,
if you feel resistance stop

You'll be fine, as long as you don't turn the crankshaft.
The valve stems are very robust on the 2 valve engines and it takes some pretty good force to bend them.
Continue like you are, as Mr. Merlin suggests.
