I would never sell a 928 at either Barrett Jackson or Mecum. Those auctions are for American muscle.
Very few people, even 928 owners, could tell you that the 4 in S4 stands for 4th Series of our 928s, just as most people don't know that 928s have 4 wheel steering. As a Seller, you've got to educate your bidders if you want top Dollar.

...that being said, I'd take $27k for my 88 S4 all day long. That's a strong price for an average condition 928 in 2021... and has no bearing on how the movie prop and car collector crowd will value a more rare version.
