Here's one way to think about it -

What can you buy it for, pricewise?

Can you get your money out of the car by parting it at that price, judging by what you see in the photos only?
(ie, assuming everything you can't see is worthless)

Then, if the car is better than it looks, you're ok, if it is worse than it looks you are ok.

Car looks fine to me for $3500. I don’t see why people are saying it’s a flood car. Interior looks decent from the pictures. I would buy it for that much. I’ve been watching S4 prices here in dfw and that’s how much non running ones people are asking for in their add and they looked worse than this one. And guess what? The adds typically last a couple of days so someone either bought it at the $7000 asking price or they picked it up for less.

It's in better shape than my car was when I bought it. Depending on what all it needs you'll probably spend several thousand dollars making it roadworthy, over a few years you'll probably spend several thousand more on it. Depends what you're looking for, if you want a project just for the sake of having a project, go for it. If you want to fix it up for a profit or pay to have it fixed up, pass.

I guess two things intrigued me about the car. 1. Rennbow lists Cassisrot as a 4 paint can rating. (Im not sure that it deserves 4 cans, but they didn't ask me). 2. I was thinking of offering the guy my bike as an equal trade for the car. That saves me from having to sell a bike and I could "save" a 928. Since spending two weekends this month underneath my 1980 928, I'm really thinking of calling a psychiatrist... ...And Im sure it would be court ordered anyways after my wife sues for divorce....

If it IS a cassisrot/burgundy, I know a guy, who knows a guy who wants it. He may be making a trip soon.

Haha. I don’t have your skills Stan!

But if you had your own reality tv show where you had 3 hours to get a sitting 928 running, I’d bet on you every time. “The Stan Challenge”, now airing on Netflix…

RUN…. Not even for $500. You’re $20K away from a $15K car… not including labor.

18x8 BBS RS-GT (front) and 18x10 BBS RS-GT the wheels on eBay go for a good price. if not bent they would cover a lot if parted out. Also it looks like a MOMO wheel so someone in the past spent some money on the car. might be worth the risk if you have the storage space.

So for giggles I contacted the guy and asked about a straight trade for the bike. He said my bike was worth around 3k to him (not unreasonable IMHO), but he was not interested in a straight trade. So would anyone here pay more than $3k for this car as she sits?

If I get there in time, and it doesn't have TBF, and it's not completely rotted to hell, then yes I will buy it. Just a matter of timing for me. I may not get it in time, as I have some surgery to do this month, but was hoping to be the next owner. Maybe someone around Atlanta or eastward could go check TBF? I will pay for the time, and I can wrap up the deal.

No, I would not. Also, if you give him your bike worth $3K plus another $3K cash, you are giving him $6K. Not worth it at 6 or 3 IMHO. If you are like Ron or Doc and take on these types of projects, and have a garage full of parts and tools to dip into, then maybe $3 with eyes wide open.

Thank you. Would you be interested in a road trip to do the TBF check? I will pay your time of course.
