Aw crap.. another good, actually great, one gone. DR lived an inspirational life. My heart goes out to you Jeannie.
There's a lot of love for both of you in this community, and plenty of help available for the asking.
Vale DR.

Jeannie, so very sorry to hear of Dave's passing and your loss.
I hope that you find some comfort in the fact that there is such a large community here that feels some semblance of that as well. Dave was such a great enthusiast, innovator, entrepreneur and staunch supporter for 928 owners-- and so many others-- over the years.
Thank you for sharing this difficult news, and for carrying on supporting the next gathering of owners/enthusiasts to sustain that spirit and to allow others to have a form of respect and remembrance as well.

Jeannie, I am just reading this and am so saddened by this news. You and David were two of the very first people I met when my 928 journey began. My sincerest condolences for your loss. The 928 community has lost a giant and one of its enthusiast pioneers. Godspeed my brother David!

Jeannie,
Our family is just devastated by this news. I recently switched jobs after 15 years, so I had my head down learning the new gig (and off of rennlist), when I heard the news last night.
I went outside, sat down, popped open a beer, poured the first drink out for DR, and thought about my trip with my son to SITM last year. I thought about how lucky we all were, to see Dave and just hang out doing what he, and all of us love.
Because of the new job, I hadn't planned on going to SITM this year, but I do now. We can't wait to hang out with our 928 family. See you guys in a few weeks.

Mentor. Friend. Family...
I'm not on RL much these days and just recently had heard the sad news of David's passing.
He battled health issues for longer than most of us probably knew... yet there he was, often just a phone call or a RL post away from keeping a lot of us from throwing tools across the garage from frustration.
Knowing our sharks inside & out, DR seemed to be the appropriate initials for one of the true 928 Doctors out there -helping us keep our rides alive & well... 'Doctor Dave' was always willing to impart his hard-earned knowledge of what makes our Swiss watch of a car tick.
Our tight knit 928 flock has lost a shepherd and will be surely missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. I know I will.
Thank you Jeannie for being by his side through thick and thin... up to the very end, so he wasn't alone and he knew he was loved.
My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Hi Jeannie,
I've not been here too much of late due to one thing or another, but I just saw this thread and my jaw hit the desk. I am so so so sorry for your loss, you and Dave were my "go to" back in 1997 and the following years when my 928 decided to own me. A huge loss for you and your family and also a huge loss for the extended 928 family.
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. (A bit late I'm sorry).
To everyone else.. Go hug someone!!!

Sorry for the late post. I've been out of the loop for months.
22 years ago, I was contemplating buying a 928. My main concern was the cost of ownership. Another concern was the lack of technical support and parts availability that this somewhat disrespected Porsche might have.
My first call was to 928 Specialists. A very helpful and knowledgeable guy answered the phone - who I quickly learned was Dave Roberts, the owner. I barraged him with questions and within 10 minutes, my mind was made up: not only was I going to buy a 928, but it was going to be a GT....and 928 Specialists would be my resource for parts and invaluable advice. I had stumbled upon one of the most knowledgeable, sincere, and passionate owners of a business that, like the name suggested, specialized in the 928.
A few months into my ownership of my first 928, Dave suggested that I bring it to Frenzy, being that it was pretty much in my back yard. It was at my first Frenzy that I came to realize the degree of support that 928 Specialists provided to the event and to 928 owners. I also came to realize that the 928 was truly something special. It was also where I met the other half of 928 Specialists, David's soulmate, Jeannie.
I also came to learn that there was an unbelievably strong community who selflessly shared Dave's passion in this unique Porsche. In my book, the foundation of this community was Dave and Jeannie Roberts. It's also where I heard Dave say "It's not the car, it's the people." for the first time - but not the last.
Over the years I relied on Dave to save my butt and help me get out of a pickle when I was elbow deep trying to replace a clutch ball cup, troubleshoot 'limp home mode' literally on the side of the highway, or clear an airbag sensor fault with this thing they called "the hammer". But I really got to know Dave one evening in the Holiday Inn parking lot. We talked for hours about the 928, performance enhancements, business, people, priorities in life and pretty much everything else. There was a lot going on in Dave and Jeannie's world at that time. I came to realize how decent Dave and Jeannie Roberts were as individuals and as partners. Their relationship was one that I sincerely admired.
I will always associate the 928 with Dave Roberts.
Jeannie, you are blessed to have had David in your life, and he was blessed to have you.

Hard to believe that a year has passed since Dave left us. There is not a day in the year that someone in our community does not think about calling him.
He is deeply missed.
The actual day of his passing was the 4th of April, 2022. But here's to our Doctor of 928's - Dave Roberts!
We miss you brother!!!

Dear 928 Family,
It is with the most profoundly broken heart that I must make this post. At 1pm Monday, April 4th, my heart and soul were shattered as David died in my arms. He fought an admirable and courageous battle the past 19 months, and I was by his side throughout it all. He tried so hard to stay here with me but his body was finally just too exhausted to continue.
I hope you all know how much he loved our 928 Family. Therefore, I think it is only fitting that his memorial be held with you all together. So, we will have a celebration of David's life and love at Sharks in the Mountains this year - June 3rd - 5th. I hope you will all join me in this celebration. Beyond that, there will only be a small family service in a few weeks.
I will start an official Sharks in the Mountains thread in the next few days. And this will NOT be the last Sharks in the Mountains!
Love,
Jeannie

Thanks for the post, Randy. At the moment I'm at a brewery with a beer in my hand, thinking about Dave.
...and because I'm at a brewery, I'm thinking about you too, Jeannie
