are the valve springs stock?
more than likely a belt tension check and a few rotations to check the belt for any damage and you could put that belt into service.
\Heat and overtensioning while hot are the belt killers.
I do PPIs for MJ who asked.
autos usually get a flex plate check included

It has slightly stiffer valve springs (15lbs. or so) & titanium retainers.

Im not saying anyone should 'insist' on someone doing work they dont want to, but it suggests a shop-wide level of lack of attention to who and how they hire, and train. Porsche has an aggressive training program for classics.
Agree with you however we know there are advantages to owning tribal knowledge of these cars which isn't necessarily part of the content in the workshop manuals. One of the differences is the ability to work on them that have been modified...the manuals don't go there...you have to understand them at the right level to be successful in that arena and there are a lot of modified ones out there... I've heard and agree with the sentiment: there are Porsche mechanics and there are Porsche mechanics that work on 928's. If a shop isn't comfortable they should say so; we know the production numbers by comparison are miniscule; I can see shops having challenges finding help that are competent on our cars..I would guess that people with that knowledge are running their own operations.

Does Porsche offer training on the 928 through their Classic program? It's tough to find someone that was factory trained...is it worth the additional $ to take that training? My answer is no, unless I have a known 928 clientele that I'll make money on...it would be a financial decision...that training won't come cheap.

In principal I agree as regards changing a timing belt. But….It’s not an ideal world. Seven years ago, I had Porsche in Owings Mills Md do an alignment and just in nature of my paranoia, I checked wheel nut tightness with my fingers before I drove out and the wheel nuts were loose. I had to restrain my wife when we walked back into the service center.
Lots of particular things with these cars. If they remove valve covers, will they remove distributor caps first? It doesn’t look like you have to, and it could be a short cut , but you should or else contacts in the cap are damaged.
my rule is not everyone’s rule. I work only with known (human) quantities with these cars.

Stan, can you give me a ballpark time frame of when you would be available?

Thanks, Hammer
