Default Need 928 tech

After my eye surgeries I can no longer trust my ability to do my own repairs. Can anyone recommend a tech in the Philadelphia area? I have some repairs & maintenance issues that need attention. The local dealership is not interested in working on 928s. They said they don't have anyone trained to work on them & don't want any liability problems.

TIA, Hammer

You are in luck- you are at ground zero do Mr Merlin - Stan. He is in Philly and one of the best there is. He is a frequent poster here, so I’m sure he’ll chime in soon

I need the timing belt replaced on my stroker. Just the belt. The belt is too old to trust driving it. The rest of the parts & pulleys have almost no mileage. It has been sitting while I drive the 89GT. But now the 89GT has developed a surging/stalling problem so I'd like to switch to the stroker to drive & then fix the GT.

I'm flexible. The timing belt buys me time so that is my priority. I can come up with something to drive for a week or two, maybe more.

The belt has been on the car for 11 years & might have 15-20 miles on it. It wasn't driven for tuning issues at first, then my multiple eye surgeries.

Do you do PPIs Stan? At mechanics’ rates? I’ll be selling mine within a year and only 928 knowledgeable types will be allowed to do PPIs for a buyer. It’s a not-to-egregious hike from here and a buyer might appreciate a small road trip as part of PPI.
and Hammer, you’re fortunate the Porsche dealer confessed not to being competent on 928s. It could be worse, they might have decided to proceed anyway.

Any trained wrench that cant follow documentation shouldn't have the job in the first place.

My daughter isn't "trained" for most of the jobs she does at work..yet is somehow competent and comfortable simply understanding the documentation and doing the job right.

Im not saying anyone should 'insist' on someone doing work they dont want to, but it suggests a shop-wide level of lack of attention to who and how they hire, and train. Porsche has an aggressive training program for classics.
