928 Restomod by Nardone
Apologies if this has been posted before, but I didn’t see it in a search. Purist will not be impressed and I lean that way so I get it. Why mess with a classic? That said, there are design elements I like, but I wonder how well it will age. I do respect the time and effort these guys put into it. https://www.carscoops.com/2022/06/po...ne-automotive/

I do think the rear hips may have possibilities, although I would go a ton more subtle. I need to figure out something about the rear end of my cab ( Most all the 928 cabs look stupid in the back) , and I have been leaning just a little bit this way. Just a hint of it though, maybe 1/10th what they have done.

I just came across this on a different site and then found two other sites on it that had additional pictures. I'm quite impressed by his retromod work, which is clearly grounded in a true respect and love for the original. The only thing that concerned me was I can't tell if his dash can be adjusted vertically -- a feature I love in my 1981.

Interesting choice of color and updated wheel style, reflecting what many consider to be the height of the malaise styling era for the 928. I like what they have done with most of it though. I see 924 GTR shapes forward of the doors.

headlights have to go, looks like something from the orginal lunar lander from the 60's. there are better resto mods already made by enthusiasts. all that and the Porsche classic head unit? Looks like they stole a lot from the 959. Looks like a way to make a crap ton of money . buy a shell, and build your custom version and try to charge Singer prices.

I updated the OP with the high rez images.
I like it, first few looks I didn't care for the interior but it's growing on me. Almost has a vibe from Blade Runner. If this is reality, would be nice if parts / pieces are available separate, like the headlights. I'd buy a set for at least one of my cars.

Overall, I like it - particularly the interior. My biggest complaints are the cutouts for the taillights make the lights appear to be at less of an angle than on S4 and later cars, which looks a little weird - more like on an early 928 fitted with aftermarket S4 bumpers. I actually think the original design (of the S4 bumper) looks more modern from the rear than this does. Also, I think the front and rear bumpers should slope back inward towards the wheels - from the midpoint on the rear bumper just below the taillights, like on the original design. Also, I think the headlights need a housing similar to the original - hard to improve on that design IMO. Regarding the vents and such, I'm sure they have some functionality, but they detract from the simplicity of the original design, which is notable for being all form without such adornments. I also wish they kept the design of the original, more squared-off rear wheel arch. Not too sure about the crease in the rocker panels either - seems a bit too sharp for a mostly rounded design.
My only complaint with the interior is the omission of the adjustable instrument cluster. Aside from these things, it appears to be a very well thought-out design and seems to be bringing positive attention to the 928. I love that they went with a color combo (Platinum Metallic/Cork?) that pays homage to the original car for the initial launch pics.

Beautiful.
I like it all, especially the design improvements which also show a connection to the original stuff right down to the window / sunroof switches. The interior is simply lovely.

I agree with both of Speedtoys' takes. I like the rear tail lights, but agree with another poster that the rear should curve in more. The front end was reminding of a 350Z. I think the designer was definitely influenced by Nissan. Several have commented on how they like the interior and while I like the new materials, it just looks too bland overall. The original pod is such a strong character point for the 928. The brushed metal center stack looks out of place.
In the end, it's all opinion and people will like what they like. It's an interesting exercise. Will be curious to see if many get sold or not.
