Thank you. I took most of the pics with the exception of the underside and some of the engine pics. Used an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I LOVE your car Chuck, so tempting... I didn't want to clutter up the thread on BaT asking this question, but I am curious your thoughts with you having owned both. For me I am a recent 928 convert, finding my "happy place" in the 928 world with an OB car. I just appreciate the general feel and purity of the early car and love the aesthetics. How would you compare the feel and drive of this car vs. a 78-79? My bid trigger finger has been wavering over your car.... Looks so good!

GLWA!

Thank you. The driving characteristics of the 78-79 928s are very similar to the 81 model. For me, the biggest difference was/is the 78 I had was an AT and the 81 is a manual. Both early 928s I've owned have had very low miles so they are/were very tight and both pull/pulled like a freight train. So strong! IMO, you couldn't go wrong with a well maintained 928 no matter the vintage. Good luck in your search.

Chuck - I just took a look at your BaT listing. Are you sure that the original owner of your car was "George P" and not George R? I didn't want to sidetrack the auction by asking the question in the comments section.

I'd have to look, I don't remember. Perhaps I made a typo? In the scheme of things not sure that matters a whole lot. Do you know George?

Yup, best friends. And boy does your listing bring back memories. The car was special ordered by George and took about a year from order to delivery. At the time I had a Mercedes coupe in that same color combo and I think that's where he got the idea for the 928's color combo. George gave me regular updates on its build progress and as soon as it arrived I flew down from Boston to finally see it and go for its maiden ride to Ocean City where George has a summer home. Interestingly, that car prompted me to immediately buy my first 928 and I've had one or two in the stable ever since.

BTW, your listing mentions that George passed away in January of 2014. Your report of his demise was a tad premature. He's actually quite alive and is going to be shocked when he sees pics of his old car and the amount of the winning bid!

What a great story! How cool is this!!!! Would be great if you posted this story on BAT. I obviously made an error referencing that George had passed when in fact it was Robert Z who passed. Please pass along my apology if/when he reads that.

Do you know if he sold the car or traded it? There is a record of it going thru an auction. I assumed he must have traded it.

I would very much love to speak with him if he would be willing.

Thank you for posting.

Color of a car is super important to just about everyone.

In this case, one needs to find a buyer who likes/appreciates brown for their sport/gt car.
