Default 89 S4 5 speed with ~42k miles and a salvage title

Time to part with one of my project cars. Drivetrain was destined for an 87 A/T, but it looks like my spare 6.4L stroker will go there instead. So, I'm left with one more than I need.

It drives with the help of a jump. Hauls ***. Kevin Wilson and John Guzman have been in the passenger seat while I wind it up.

Non-LSD but with performance like a 90 GT who cares?

So, part it out or will some brave soul take it as is?

Let's start with reconstruction that features a beer bottle opener on the B pillar.

I hope this car is saved rather than parted out.

I tend to agree. I've seen worse restored. At a minimum, it would make a great track car.

Atfer all it is a 5 speed!

MUST be saved. Did it have a color change? Do you know what the damage that salvaged it was? This would be a great project for someone who just wanted to wrangle cosmetic issues and not get into anything deeply mechanical.

With all the low mile goodies I was hoping for $8500. Engine and transmission alone are worth that.

89 was a unique year. Wiring harness and such one of one.

That's a very fair price for that car.

Hi Kevin,
How is the mileage documented to be correct? The condition of the top of the engine , the driver seat etc, tells a different story. Were the headlights changed to the previous generation, prior to S4?
thanks
Bilal

Who knows where and how long the car sat waiting for someone to try and reconstruct the car. It has also been sitting under a cover in my back yard with some chipmunks taking up residence. :-)
The odometer in the car - digital. Hard to screw with.
The pictures are an accurate look at the car today - leaves and debris are from my ownership.

And the PO swapped out the headlights before shipping it to me.

Well, I know there was an 89GT tub with a clean title somewhere in NC at one point. :-)

I think this drivetrain under that tub would be a killer project.

I am very familiar with the 89 for sale in this thread. The TB and WP were done by the previous owner and the cam gears were replaced at that point.

This car is not much to look at, is definitely rebuildable, and runs like a bat from Hell.

The car came without headlights. I donated the only extra headlights I had on hand to the car so it could be licensed and driven.

The car's name is Betty.

GLWS Kevin!
