Got the 1987 S4 cleaned up, readying for sale.
Bittersweet day. Spent some quality time replacing the brake master cylinder with a brand new Porsche unit. Was finally able to take the old girl for a spin. The brakes had dragged before.
Washed, chamois, clay bar and waxed. Vacuumed out and cleaned.
Never really put any mods on it except for the side mirror covers and aftermarket carpets, so "putting it back to stock" just means the next owner won't have many dings on the side mirrors and basically good as new factory floor mats!
No idea where to sell my baby I've had since it was new in June of '87, but I'm enjoying making her look nice before she leaves.
EDIT: Oops, didn't know there would be so many questions. I'll put some of the answers in this first post for convenience:
1987 928 S4 Automatic
Venetian Blue exterior, Linen interior
135K miles (Mostly highway, since it was used for a 200 mile commute twice a week back in the day)
Mechanical LSD (other options listed in post #12 below)
Original owner
Starts instantly, runs great
Always garaged so the interior and exterior have no sun damage. ZERO cracks around the dash vents.
Original paint.
No modifications except for replacing the Blaupunkt tape deck wiith a Blaupunkt CD player. (Might still have the original tape player in the attic, will look)
Within the past few hundred miles, I've serviced the:
Timing belt
Torque tube bearings
New Dunlop OEM tires
brake master cylinder and hood/trunk struts.
About $8000 worth of work
Clean CARfax
Issues:
AC works.. for about 2 days after recharging....
Power trunk release motor makes noise, but doesn't pop trunk. You have to use the key. This just started happening this year.
Light bulb behind the "D" gear indicator on the dash went out.
Sometimes check engine light comes on over bumps. I've heard the timing belt tension sensor is crap on these, maybe that's it? The timing belt is new and tensioned right.
The ABS light comes on sometimes.
There is a small scratch on the rear bumper, two small dings on the drivers door and one small one on the passenger door that a paintless dent removal expert could easily fix.
I'll update this as I answer more question or think of other things.

also, join this forum and you can advertise it for sale here. Rennlist membership is cheap, but the audience is wide.

Original owner - I’d be checking with BAT to try to maximize price (depending on mileage and current maintenance). If just looking to sell to another enthusiast, this is the right place.

Will do! Selling an antique car is a little involved.... Hopefully less painful than fishing my wrenches out of the depths while changing out that brake master cylinder!

Beautiful car and nicely equipped.
I'm curious, did you special order it or was it something that the dealer had in stock?
