Default PNW / Portland 928 meetup November 19th.

There is a bit of a resurgence in 928 ownership in the Portland, metro area. It used to be pretty strong with folks like Louie Ott, @PorKen , @Spider4me, @DrBob , Keith Martin, Tom D, and a whole bunch of others I never met. Those icons have mostly faded from activity or 928 ownership. However, over the last few years I have met a few new owners and some transplants, as well as, meeting extending folks in SF and Seattle/Tacoma area. So I thought it would be cool to put on a 928 Rendevous event here in the Portland/Beaverton area as a way to meet the current crew of active owners, bond, test stories about working on and driving our cars. @Zirconocene and I have been scheming on a plan and are now ready to unleash it to the rest of the RL community. It would be great to have folks from the list come and join if you are in area. The format of the event will be hang out for a couple hours, have some food, go on a group drive, then head home. I will be hosting a tech session on repairing gas caps. @Jerry Feather has loaned me his specialized tool and replacement metal pawls for repairing gas caps and this will be your last opportunity before I return the tool to Jerry.

Here is the link the event flyer, and the details are listed below. If you are interested in coming please fill out theRSVP listso I can plan for space and let the restaurant know of approximate group size.

Hope to see you soon,
Mike Benno Portland Porsche 928 meetup

Here is a little video intro of folks and their cars.

Here are some more shots

Tom M wins the award for the most tenure of 928 ownership (by a few months) and for having the rarest production run with his awesome Canadian spec 89 GT with sport seats .

Everyone loves a good CS wheel shot. Drool!

Ralph, another old school member from back in the day, decided to show off his GT complete with Stossek wing!

Tom D, brought his incredible Amazon Green GTS 5psd, Tom has been such a huge help to me over the years.

Im not sure how someone grabbed a picture of me, I was too busy taking photos and chatting and drinking too much coffee.

Aaron is one of the newest owners with an impossibly mint interior 87 S5 5spd. Thanks for bringing your brother, hopefully he wasnt too board.

This guy just happened to come across our event on a Sunday drive and stayed to enjoy the party! I didn't happen to catch his name

Glen, thanks so much for helping me bring this idea to reality. You suggestions and encouragement made it happen. Looks like I'll be coming over to help you get your wipers working.

Ken the mad scientist and his latest frankenstein. 89 supercharged beast left me for dead trying to keep up.

Matt, your car is amazing, simply beautiful. Thanks again for joining us. We hope to see you again soon.

Late afternoon drive found some deceivingly slippery roads coated with deicer.

Ken (928 behind) and I decided to take the long way home.

Hope you all enjoyed the photos.

I wish I could be there with my 81 5-speed, but alas I will be out of town on that day. Rock Creek is a great choice, too!

Hey Michael,

I'm signed up and hoping to make it down.

Will be without a 928 ( but I do have two in pieces), but will be good to see everyone.

Hey everyone the weather in Portland is looking good for this weekend. Cold, but dry at least it should be a good day for the event.

I have some updates for all of you. Folks have asked about bringing some parts to sell and or donate to the cause. Yes, absolutely, bring stuff you want to get rid of or try and sell. Post them on this thread so we have a heads up. I know there will be some Factory Manuals available for $250 or something like that. Fun starts at 10:30 and will go to 12:30 or later. If you have parts to get rid of, come during that time.

I have a group drive set up at the end of the event, but if folks just want to inside and talk about cars and eat food we can do that as well.

I was looking over the attendee list, wow, we have 15 cars coming and quite few folks with guests. I am thinking of changing the schedule a little so that we can have time for lunch and then people can just drive and head home. We have 5 cars coming down from Washington. I can set you all up with a nice country road drive back to I5 and it would give us all a chance for a drive together on your way home. Suggested route: https://goo.gl/maps/eX17EoedEnvnUtjL7

I put some pics on our local page (https://groups.io/g/PacNW928/album?id=281769) . Was a fun event and great to see some of the "old-timers" and also meet some new faces. Cold drive down for me (-5 C) on the dash but it did warm up. I think we had 8 928's one random 944 who just showed up and a Panamera GTS!
