1978 Euro Continental Orange #498 - Revivial
Well it's time to finally make an official revival thread for VanD's "Orangie". 1 of 6 known Continental Orange 928's, Euro build, never federalized, no passenger mirror, no rub strips, no sunroof. I can't bring myself to post pictures of the stripping as it was a rusty bastard. Ha Ha.
Anyhow the chassis is with my painter now and should be done in April or May. The car had a previous bad re-paint and had already been stripped past the electrostatic primer during that horror of a paint job, runs and all. We found much filler in the rear quarters and both front fenders were garbage. The body shop measured and she is straight so that was a relief.
Last week he started cutting out and welding up the rust spots and began the blocking process. He has been working the metal as much as possible to reduce the amount of filler that will be required. But as you can see the rear quarters were a mess.

Looking forward to this story. Sounds like an early VIN.

Based on the front end photo the front bumper shocks or Euro CANS are pushed in you can fit used shocks the extended position is 70 mm measure them before you put them in it’s a whole lot of work to swap them
Good luck on your project

Thanks Stan, I will measure them again to be safe, but here is another angle. When assembled the front bumper was aligned.
And some pics of a few shinny bits.

The other thing from that picture which I've said before, is that if you squint just a little bit, you can see the evolution of the 16" phone dials to these beautiful Cup 1's. My favorites are the Cup 1', except for the early OB's, where the 16" phone dials look best.

Mostly straight and primed. Next doors etc off and my painter will get some colour down.
