1979 Top-end Refresh Complete
Thanks to everyone for their help along the way since I first picked up my first 928 this past Summer. It has been a long learning process of figuring out a few little things and then the top-end refresh this winter. Not completely happy with the idle or the idle at start-up (doesn’t start at 2000 or so and drop just stays at 1000) but I just finished up a short test drive, adjusted the fuel a fews time and it seems good to go. Runs a 100 times better than it did. Nice and smooth. Thanks again for the help and patience. Now onto a longer test drive.

Nice work Ben! You've really done a great job with that car, and looking forward to seeing it in C-Bus this summer.

Beautiful. Post a cold start up video and we may be able to point you in a direction for the warm up idle issue. Check your AAV to make sure it's the right one for your year car as there are a couple different ones with different apertures inside. For the video, upload it to YouTube and post the link here.
Hope to see it in person at one of this year's events and we can start a Hellbronze section in the parking lot.

Thank you. It's powdercoat...spent hours looking at powder chips trying to decide on what looked most original. Hopefully I'm somewhat close. I tried soda blasting but I wasn't happy with it. A professional shop I'm sure could have done better but I'm pleased with the way it turned out. @Rob Edwards did cerakote I think and it turned out amazing. Good luck. It took me 3 months to do the top end...most guys could do it in 8 hours. LOL

Two of the 3 plugs are interchangeable as they just supply 12v whenever the key is on. One of those goes to the AAV and the other to the WUR. One of the plugs has 3 wires. That one goes to the cold start injector and the reason it has 3 is because it has a ground loop that goes down to the temp sensor and back up to cold start injector and it only fires when the starter is cranking if the temp sensor is cold and closes the ground loop.
