Acceleration Sensor Location
My ongoing investigations to address ABS and PSD warnings.
As this sensor is part of the ABS circuitry, I thought I would check that it was connected OK and that it appeared to be OK. My understanding is that it is located under the Drivers Seat. Having removed the DS seat, I can’t work out where it is

- Is it there, if so, can someone tell me where?
- OR it occurs to me that “under the DS” might apply to the USA cars and for the ROW cars, it is under the other seat (this other seat has a fault in my car and currently I can’t move it forward or backwards, which makes investigation or removal a lot harder than normal).

It is attached to the floor pan, not the seat. Look just behind the lateral stiffener in the floor pan for a small 30-40mm sq black plastic housing about 15mm tall.

I take it you are aware that you can move the seats manually using the crank tool assuming the worm drives are engaged.
The senor is definitely mounted to the floor pan- which side you will find it on a UK spec 928 I have no idea. Not everything is *** about face on right hookers.

1) that was a timely reminder about the crank tool - a few turns on the crank and the motor was able to turn, so i had access to the rear bolts
2) and you can see that i found the sensor under the passenger seat on my ROW car (it was connected, the photo was after i had unplugged it)
The sensor does have rattle sound when moved sideways, and it and the connector look nice and clean with no corrosion, I will do a test to check connectivity etc back to the ABS controller and then put it back on.

Cleaning out the sensor housing may resolve your issue if it is in fact the sensor giving "implausible" readings to the controller causing the error message. Remove it from the vehicle, carefully pop the cover off of the sensor housing and rinse liberally with brake cleaner. Mine had quite a bit of ferrous material stuck to the magnet that was preventing the pendulum from moving free. Once cleaned the system was back to 100%.

Was a bit slow to advise you where it's located. Mine was bad. Be very careful, don't mess with it when it has power as it will blow a fuse in the ABS brain.
JDSPorsche sell a solid state replacement, no more pendulum.
