Default whats the right TYRES for my GT ?

And second daft question today is what is the right tyre? I want to drive it all year round in a spirited fashion and it can get cold in Munich in the winter (but I wouldnt drive on snow or ice without the correct winter tyres)

Im very familiar with the Pirelli P-Zero N rated product on 911's. Is this the same approach for the 928? Or is there a better approach? I really like big side walls to get maximum ride comfort and we are limited to specific tyre size here so its only brand that I can choose from. So whats the best? They will be mounted on D90 wheels. Size must be 225/50ZR16 fronts and 245/45ZR16 rears.

Oh...any thoughts on the Reifendruck Kontrol System?

Thanks for the guidance,
SG

The Pirelli is the only top tire choice on the rear axle so the choice is simple.

If you must stay with those sizes, it's a matter of what's available, not what's best.

The Tire Rack only shows the Pirelli P Zero Rosso and Cinturato P7 (Collezione) along with some track tires.
Discount Tire has Yokohama Advan A008P and some track tires.

If you bump up the rear to a 245/50-16 there are a few more options like the BFGoodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S Plus, Riken Raptor ZR A/S, Toyo Extensa HP II, General G-Max RS, Falken Ziex ZE950 A/S, Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 H457, Cooper Zeon RS3-G1, and BF Goodrich G-FOrce Sport Comp 2.

Pirelli P Zero… Porsche has an agreement with Pirelli for their classic cars and it is an excellent tire N Spec. 225/50/16 Front and 245/45/16 Rear.

Default Tires for GT

Has anyone tried going up a profile size front and rear? 225/55-16 FR + 245/50-16 RR

lots more tire choices there and seems there is plenty of space on all sides for another 1/2”

The classic Pirelli P7 is a great choice IMO.

I think the car will look and drive funny with that tall a sidewall. Besides, why bother playing with the factory size when the stock size is readily available?

I have with all of my cars still wearing 16 inch wheels -- 245 /50-16 for the rears. I use Michelins almost exclusively. Perelli tires are the worst in the world from my experience.

Default Tire sizes

What about 205/55-16s and 225/50-16s?
Lots of choice there and the section width and height are very close.

Has anyone tried this

I would not overthink this too much. Go with the stock sizes and the pirelli. They are good tires.

Pirelli it is as they where the only ones available here for the wheels and the offset. Ive got Pirellis on my 993 and they grip really well and give lots of feedback. Pics and driving videos on the way shortly.

The answer is simple: go with the tires that are approved by Porsche (N). Problem is, that some brands are not always available in your size.
