Default Did the S4 come with factory rear spacers?

I have a rear spacer on my S4. Just wondering if this is stock?

I do not believe they came that way stock, that part number supersedes an old part number for a 930 which makes me think these originally started on one of those.

The ROW Euro S's from 1984 to 1986 had 21 mm spacers on the rear (and longer wheel studs). No S4 came with spacers standard, but PET lists that same spacer as an accessory for '87-91, along with the longer wheel studs, which requires pulling the rear axle stub (and replacing the rear wheel bearing) for installation. The '89 GTs got 17 mm spacers as well.

Interesting info. I tried to put a stock wheel on there but without the spacer it sat way too far inside the fender and the wheel studs were too long. I am assuming at some point in the cars life someone swapped something back there.

Rob - didn't the US version 86.5 come with factory spacers (and longer studs)? I could swear they did, and I had them on mine. Don't know for sure though.

Not as far as I'm aware, or at least I don't remember there being anything about spacers on the 86 ROW or the 86.5 US model. Here's the only TSB I can find on spacers, it sort of implies that if you're reading this, you're adding spacers after the fact.

This specs page from the WSM also seems to say that only the Clubsports (and '89GT) and the GTSs got spacers from the factory.

So obviously a prior owner had longer studs installed. And I would bet the fender was rolled because the stock wheel sits ridiculously far from the fender edge without the spacer

not on mine. Fenders were not rolled. The whole set up looked factory, and untouched when I got it. Since they were offered as an option on the S4, maybe the US S3 had the option available too? Who know, if only these cars could talk.

My 1988 CS/SE came with rear spacers 17mm.

They were the type of spacer fitted with bolts that bolt to the original hub.

I don't know if it's factory, but I can confirm my 86.5 also has the spacers and longer studs.

Sometimes you gotta be an empiricist- sounds to me like the spacers were standard on the 86.5.

Maybe it was due to the flux capacitor in the Delorean?
