Default What is this?

I purchased a 1982 928 at an estate sale a couple of weeks ago. I am beginning to restore the car. The car has not run since 1999. I have removed the interior and am moving on to the wiring. I have no history on the car. I do know it had the factory alarm and it has an ungo box alarm sticker on the windshield. On the passenger side where the amp was there are 3 red wires going into 2 brown wires connected to this copper coil. There are no markings on the coil. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Looks like a choke coil, usually used for radio noise suppression. I don't think they are useful in alarm systems but I'm sure an alarm installer would know for sure.

Exactly right, the inductor/coil is used for noise suppression. Has nothing to do with the alarm system. Depending on the inductance or "henry's" of the coil it determines which frequencies it will let through. In this case it also has a iron core to enhance the inductance. These surpressors look VERY similar to transformers.

Thank you for the replies. This car has a lot of wires tied into the fuses and multiple toggle switches that are hard to trace. I want to make sure I don’t remove anything important to the future running of the car.
