928 Appraiser Recommendations
Hoping the Group can provide some recommendations for an Appraiser that can provide a competent evaluation of my 1983 928s market value before and after an accident. I am located in the Dallas area.
I am the second owner of this 928, though I did help the original owner order it back in 1982. 5 speed, LSD, no rub strips and 159,000 miles with all receipts. 100% original; no damage history, original paint and interior very well maintained.
Over 2 months ago, I had a woman (focused on her phone versus driving) impact the rear quarter of my 928 in a parking garage. The damage, at first, did not seem to be significant.
After providing HD security camera footage to her insurance company, they admitted liability. After 2 months, they sent an appraiser to provide a repair estimate ($2,000) and a value ($17K) with no value lost as a result of the accident.
I recognize that my vehicle is not in Concurs condition. But for all original condition, she presents herself well above average for a nearly 41 year old 928s.
We all know that the objective of an insurance company is to minimize the financial exposure as a result of a claim.
And while I would prefer to avoid more formal dispute resolution, I'm not willing to roll over. I'm hoping that providing a more competent formal appraisal will help with 2 of the 3 issues I face.
Thanks for the group for any recommendations and thoughts. I've attached a few pictures as well.

While on my way to Long Island, someone threw something over a bridge on I-95 landing on the upper part of the windshield of my 2017 Cayenne Turbo. The windshield caved, shooting shards of glass in my arm, the roof was dented and the sunroof became inoperable (it was open). The insurance adjuster allowed $1500 with a laughable $35/hr labor rate ( what body shop charges that?) I could have taken the car to a local shop that I know does excellent work at reasonable prices but I elected to bring it to the Porsche dealer thinking they weren't going to accept non OEM parts (in particular the windshield).
The windshield was ordered from Germany as well as sunroof parts. Total bill was just shy of $10k. I think it's fruitless to fight for diminished value reparation on my car and with yours having the mileage, you'd be hard put to get someone (in my opinion) to tell you a number that represents a realistic drop in value because a few panels were painted.
My goal was to get the vehicle back in such a state that it would be virtually impossible to tell any damage occurred. That's what I got. If your car was mine, the goal would be the same.Let the Porsche dealer tell the insurance company what's going to happen, not the other way around.

If you'll register with Hagerty.com, you'll gain access to their valuation tool. They show a grade #3 (Good condition) '82 5 speed such as yours at $22K, add 5% if it has Pasha interior. Grade #2 (Excellent condition) is $45K. Since they're a leading collector car insurer, I think it would be difficult for her insurance company to argue very much with their values.

find a Hi quality PDR guy first,
those dents should come out pretty well ,
almost enough so that the paint wont be disturbed
I would estimate its a 450.00 set of dents

I would get a quote from Porsche Dallas and I‘m be sure the damage is near 10.000 $ with 250 $ labor per hour.
Painting this color in the rear of the car is a real task.
After receiving the payment from the insurance you can go Mr. Merlin’s way.
I would tax the car at 20.000 $, here in Europe we make in relationship with the classic insurance company every few years a consultation of a technical car inspector who tax the price for purchase of an near identical car.
I would think this value is 25.000 € and more.
My 86 S was purchased this spring for 24.000 € and the value is over 30.000 €
I send the 30.000 € for the rate calculation to the insurance company.
