Passenger window not working 78
Hi All
Well I have been picking away at my new 78. So poking around today I came to discover that the fuse was blown. Great change fuse..it blows again, but only when I activate the passenger window. The driver's window works fine. As soon as I activate the passenger window...there is a whirring from the fuel pump? and the fuse blows.......2 totally separate circuits.
My thought was an issue in the fuse panel as the fuse for the windows (#20) and the fuse for the pump (#21) are adjacent to each other. So my next plan was to remove the fuse panel and determine if there is a short between the two fuses. But if that is the case why wouldn't the fuse blow when activating the driver's window also? When I activate the driver's window there is no engaging of the pump.
I disconnected the harness for the passenger door and the same thing happens. Thoughts? Anyone experience this?
Thanks

Fuse 20 is for the headlight washers, fuse 21 is for the windows and fuse 22 is for the fuel pump. Does the fuse blow when switch is pressed for up, down or both ?

Thanks, I only ever tried the down position since the window is stuck in the up position. But I would think both. Apologies as I got the fuse numbers wrong. I am convinced that is where my issues are,
Going at it tomorrow I will let you all know how I make out.

Disconnect the battery first then,
pop the cover off the window switch see if the rockers are in their slots ,
lift it up to remove the switch rocker.
someone may have rewired the fuel pump to feed from the window then with both of them running the fuse blows

It's not uncommon for the wires in the harness that goes through the door panel to fray and short out.
More common for DS since that gets the most use.
I would start there. Take off the door panel, flex the harness and see if the short goes away.
