3. I work in marketing, my 2 cents are that you need to go to a premium level with swag cause so much of it is subpar.
4. I like things like water bottles, coffee mugs etc. I have a swag supplier who has done work for me for over 20 years, I could get some ideas from her if the group wants.

Yes, Adam float some ideas via my email and we will see if "our guy' can find or similar. I like the coffee mug idea. Never thought of that.

Rooms have been reserved. I am happy the the nightly rates are remaining the same as last year. As was the case last year, reservations before and after the dates will retain the same room charge. I will post the hotel link in January for direct reservations.

Room Type Thur. 7/18/24 Fri 7/19/24 Sat 7/20/24
1 King Bed $159.00
2 Queen Bed $169.00
Hotel’s room rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 17.50%) in effect at the time of check-out.

I may be in for this also. I have friends in Kingsport Tn., and I have recently discovered the Tail of the Dragon, and OMG, if you have never done it, it is worth a day of your life, to discover.
Coffee cup swag is good. The special bourbon, sounds good to me.
Cheers
Don

I will post this again... Really appreciate the previous input, but respectfully request others chime in!! How would have thought that the 928 community would be so QUIET!?!?

We are getting the same hotel, primarily for HUGE parking lot party purposes, and they have the BEST room rate we could find on site... again. We are contemplating adding a Thursday Fun Run to the Air Force Museum in Dayton (for all the early arrivals) and we may be able to swing our own Party DJ for both Fri & Sat nights in the parking lot (weather permitting).

We need some feedback as we float some ideas and are trying to plan ahead.
1. Would you buy the commemorative, limited edition, SDC II Labeled Bourbon and/or SDC Lemon Cello again ($65.00 / $35.00)? Please tell us why... or why not.
2. Is a small $$ charge for "Pizza In the Parking Lot" on Friday & Saturday Nights as part of SDC Registration a GOOD or BAD idea? Please tell us why... or why not.
3. Did you like the SWAG? Shirt Quality and/or Color? Challenge Coin? Swag Bag? Hat Quality and/or Color? Koozie? Please tell us why... or why not.
4. Any ideas for additional Swag or 928 Activities... Lets hear them!
5. Anything else that comes to mind, PLEASE let us know...

We want Sharks Discover Columbus II to be even AWESOMER... AWESOMENESS...ER... ER... 928 Event!

1. Probably no Bourbon or Limoncello for me next year.
2. Very good idea.
3. Swag? Don't really need some, but...
4. Rather have one useful item (quality pen, flash light, pocket knife...) than many that will end up in a drawer.

1. No Bourbon or Limoncello for me next year, but if you do a scotch -wellll......
2. Or just pass the hat? Either way works for me.
3 - 5. Swag - not a koozie fan, or water bottle, or coffee mug, etc. I like little flashlights and things like that though, as Bertrand said, rather have one useful item (quality pen, flash light, pocket knife...) than many that will end up in a drawer.
Also a fun run on Friday - longer drive through speedy twisties?

The plan is to hang out at your place until the PVGP.

Update on Sharks Discover Columbus II in July: The hotel contract is done with the same low room rates as last year. The Arthritis Foundation Classic Automobile Show (CAS) and Cruise-In will be announcing their schedule of events this month. We will get it together with our information and post the AF CAS / Cruise-In schedule and registration, DoubleTree hotel registration, and the Sharks Discover Columbus (SDC) II registration links all together. We know the multiple registration links can be a PITA, but it's the best we can do when organizing a Porsche Show within a Classic Car Show. Once the links are posted, PLEASE let us know if you have any difficulty registering for the events.

Note: The AF CAS organizers LOVED us last year and have asked us to return even bigger and better. PLEASE be sure to register for the AF CAS so we may continue to support the fight against Arthritis! Like last year, the AF CAS organizers are providing all 928s with VIP parking on the grass lining the entrance to the formal CAS show on Saturday. No hanging out & sweating to death on a HOT ASPHALT parking lot! The 928 Buckeye Landsharks are working on even better and more useful swag (as mentioned above); a Fun Run on Thursday to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, OH; and more parking lot shenanigans on Friday & Saturday nights as $$ and time permit. We will also have VALUABLE door prizes and 928 only car show "MAJOR AWARDS" provided by our 928 parts vendors and sponsor 928 Owners Club.

Be prepared for a GREAT TIME with the 928 Community and visiting one of the best car shows on the planet with two days of live bands, great food vendors, clean facilities and copious amounts of SHADE! I hope I don't lose my voice again... Awww who are we fooling, it will be gone by Saturday morning! Hope to see everyone there!!

Fins Up!

THE 928 Buckeye Landsharks!

Nope on the Bourbon or Lemon Cello. I'm with Ed on a nice 16 year old or older Scotch - if any...
2. Is a small $$ charge for "Pizza In the Parking Lot" on Friday & Saturday Nights as part of SDC Registration a GOOD or BAD idea? Please tell us why... or why not.
YES! Pizza is allways good and it keeps people around the cars.
3. Did you like the SWAG? Shirt Quality and/or Color? Challenge Coin? Swag Bag? Hat Quality and/or Color? Koozie? Please tell us why... or why not.
Swag? Quality is always better than quantity... The coins are cool!
4. Any ideas for additional Swag or 928 Activities... Lets hear them!
Like the Air Museum idea, I helped bring an Atlas Rocket there a few years ago...
5. Anything else that comes to mind, PLEASE let us know...
Perhaps someone could bring a tent/canopy so there is a place for a few to gather in rainy or super sunny days? It gets hot out there on the asphalt.

Great feedback folks!

On Friday & Saturday we have shade tents with coolers and refreshments at two locations on the GRASS next to the cars. Not in parking lots as they are hard to tie down when / if the wind picks up.
Swag - Quality over Quantity - Got it!
I will bring a bottle of good Scotch & Oliva Cigars for those who like that kinda stuff. Recommend everyone BYOB & Sticks
MAY add a nominal fee to the registration to help cover Friday and Saturday night pizza - always a popular event at 9 to 10 p.m.
Probably won't do the bourbon again as it's kind of expensive at $65 a bottle.
MAY do a limited run of SDC II Limoncello as it was a BIG HIT last year and we SOLD OUT!

We'll be posting the SDC II, DoubleTree Hotel, and AF Show registration links SOON! Any other insights, advice, input, etc, to make this an even better event... fire away!

Joel

Perhaps I should open that bottle of Limoncello and see what this really is all about? Duh!

Does anyone have a car trailer with an awning that could be the central party zone? Perhaps a small quiet generator for tunes and misc power needs? I've got a trailer, but its pretty basic.

Before proceeding, the question is: Would the hotel allow us to expand our footprint a bit?
