What condition? Mint? Near show room? Drives-but-needs-polishing-up?
Dont do much to it at first besides cosmetics and clean up work. You’ll need to read through the forums a great deal to establish an inventory and expense list of where to start. Consider sources like 928Intl.com, 938srus.com and a specialty shops like Precision Motorwerks and Black Sea R&D to be your friend. Get quotes before you buy rafts of parts. It’s like up-optioning a new Mercedes. It can get exhaustively expensive fast. But it doesn’t have to be that way if you research first.

I was looking for a water cool 6 speed 997.2 to use in this hot desert weather and ended up with this 928. I hope the engine and AC will survive this hot weather here .

^^ IF you want it to have cold AC, stick with R12. The earlier condensers do not have the capacity the later ones have and struggle in temps above 90.

The engine will be fine provided the fan clutch is working right

Mike, Congratulations and welcome! I would second Blake's recommendation to stick with R12 if you possibly can (assuming it is not already converted), and if it is working well now then don't worry about it. Same with any sort of aftermarket mods or chips, get to know the car first. It is hard enough to find folks who are competent with these cars in stock form, once you start modifying anything then you own it all.

First Porsche, Keep the battery charged, and disconnected if not being used regularly, say every week.

Dont modify anything, keep it stock .

NOTE Just because there are aftermarket parts made doesn’t mean they all belong on this machine.

You might need trans and motor mounts and a pan gasket ,
Other than that stay away from internet upgrade discussion.

You got a beautiful car,
as new caretaker please take the time to keep it that way.

Oh yeah keep the R 12 system, all the parts you need to keep it that way are still available.
You just need to know where to look we can help you.

I agree with everyone regarding the R12, my 86.5 with 55k miles originally sold in Scottsdale has the "engine cooling for hot climate" and "increased air condit. output" options from the factory. I had the air conditioning serviced with R12 drove it 300 miles this past July from San Jose to Reno through the Sierra's with no air conditioning issues.
