Default MY94 928 GTS - New car in the family

Hi Guys,
Decided to say hello to this part of the forum. I'm completely new to the 928 cars, but have some experience with the other old'ish Porsches.

I was always laughing that I was not mature enough to own a 928, but it seems I'm grown up enough now and got one
Bought the car a week before turning 41-yo.

Some photos of the car, as these are always the most important things haha

Car comes from Netherlands, where it had 2 owners, prior to them there was one owner in Germany.
ODO says ~237k km, the car was kind of maintained all the time by a Porsche Shop in NL.
Got plenty of invoices for the last 8 years or so with the milage on it. Seems it was doing 2-6k km per year for the last years.

Few things are not working, few parts are missing, brakes needs rebuild as the inner brake pad was seized and discs are already out of minimal thickness.
I connected my Hammer prior to purchase and it found nothing. Did all the checks and all went fine.

Any hints what to check / replace welcomed

PS. It's a great highway car - I drived on wheels from Netherlands to Poland after purchase (1100 km in 12 hours due to traffic jams on German Autobahns haha).

It's MY94, produced in November 1993.

Great color combo, welcome to 928 ownership! It's great to see the car has been driven as it keeps the systems in working order.
You may consider also joining the 928 Owners Club, great resources there too.
Enjoy your new ride

Wow welcome to the 928 world,
what a great car to get for your 41st birthday.
Im glad its been used, it looks well kept.
I really like that color as well.
From your pictures I would suggest a few things,
Check and reset the ride height,
the front end looks low and damage to critical engine mounting parts will occur.
usually the AC compressor and the alternator are the first casualties
NOTE from the picture the Left rear wheel eccentric at the cross member appears to be loose,
see the worn edge where the eccentric is hitting the slot.

NOTE It would be wise to replace the 4 dog bone bushings at the rear upper control arms ,
reset the ride height and you have driven the car for about 50 miles to settle the suspension,
then have the car aligned.
NOTE the eccentric bolts get torqued to 140 ft/lbs. lots of times these are loose.

Also you should perform a flex plate thrust bearing clearance check,
and make sure the front and rear pinch bolts are retorqued to 66 ft/lbs.

good luck on your new machine.

Welcome to the shark tank - nice ride! As part of your “getting acquainted” with the car routine, I highly recommend getting familiar with the PSD and checking it out. That little hidden gem can easily cost $5k - $10k for repairs if there are problems. If there are problems, at the low end of the scale it starts at $2,500 for a rebuild. At the high end it can cause brake fluid to leak from the slave cylinder into the rear differential and ruin its clutch plates. The good news is, if it’s working okay (and hopefully is based on your Hammer results), if you start and keep a regular service routine, you can avoid a lot of costs/problems.

Be very careful removing the rear wheel well liners – they’re $600+ each and crumble like potato chips.

You’ll see all kinds of good ideas in the “New Visitor” and “DIY” sticky threads (Timing belt/water pump, TBF check, PS and fuel lines, etc.) But personally, unless you have documentation on last fluid flushes, I would do them all and start with a clean baseline. I.e., brake fluid, coolant, transmission, oil, PSD, power steering, rear differential, etc.

Don’t let any of this scare you… buying one of these cars is like the 5-stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance <lol>

Congrats again – an awesome looking car!

What's the VIN?
1994 928's had Cup II wheels, not Cup I.

As I researched the web it seems early MY94 still had the CUP1.

Nevertheless these are not 928GTS CUP1 wheels, but the 964 turbo ones.

I’m considering changing those to three piece alloys in similar design to CUP1.

EDIT:
Thanks guys for warm welcome and hints what to do and check initially. If possible please add a photo or a diagram next time - not a native here, and a 928 newbie, so from the words it not always make sense to me (just rings a bell)
For sure I will do all the maintenance stuff, but want to leave all the bigger works for later and just have some fun with the car.
Brakes is a must, the rest can wait some time.
The registry of service works is quite long (these are for around 20k EUR from last 8-9 years) with milage and brief description what was done.
Timing belts and water pump was done like 4k km ago, but as usual I can't find any trace of brake fluid being replaced recently - not sure why people are not replacing that in non-racing cars every 2 years or so honestly.
When doing checks with my Hammer I did all the listening to the clicks stuff, so it all seems ok. Both engine and PSD.
Gearbox was rebuilt or rather had full inspection as is was not smooth just few thousands km ago.

Wheel alignment needs to be done, I will do it on my own (I have a set for that, but it requires lifting the car for compensation of the wheels) probably together with ride height (as noted it's to low, especially front).

I'm still trying to figure out the car keys. I have 2 - long black with porsche crest and the "torch" and a shorter red one. The red one does ignition and I think fuel cap, the black one all the doors and trunk, but not ignition - is it normal that way? Seems strange.

Audio head unit needs to be replaced and I need to search the wiring diagrams for the amplifier, as when amp is connected to the back of the head unit (not a factory one), the fuse is blown.
Without the amp being connected the head unit turns on and the fuse survives.

Also passenger side electric window does not work as intended - the button needs to be pressed all the time to close/open the window, while driver side works as touch - move a bit, hold for 2-3 seconds and window opens/closes fully.

Sunroof makes strange noises, but opens and closes fully.

Intake seals/gaskets were replaced 2-3 years ago ask there was some leakage and it lead to sharp idle.

In general it seems the car is not a contest winner, but kind of a daily that had all the regular works done when needed / something broke.
Having a friend with a nice 928 and another one with a 928 that was stuck for years, I decided to go with a car that was driven all the time until recently rather a car that was sitting in the garage for years to save the milage.

I will try to post some updates on the works as well as some discoveries about the car.
Probably some questions as well.

Lot to read on the forum, but not much time for it.
