Default Replacing instrument cluster housing

I bought the white section of the instrument cluster because my cluster is broken where it attaches to the pod.

Does anybody have any insight on the steps to do this. I know I'm going to have to remove the black rear cover and the front plastic cover. But what kind of expect to find when I'm trying to remove or separate them white section?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Have you looked on the 944 boards? On the later 944 models those clusters develop what looks like a skin rash, with lots of little white dots that start to show up on the dark plastic. I haven't done it yet, myself, but I have some cars that definitely are showing the issue.

I'll see if I can dig up a relevant thread that might give you some guidance.

Cheers

I think you'll find it straightforward enough. I've had clusters completely apart, including repainting the black to fix the 'patina', and I don't remember any particular gotchas.

Can you bond the rubber mounts into what is left on the plastic shroud rather than pull the unit apart?

Your photo is somewhat shrouded in the damaged area.

Check out Ed Scherer's LED conversion guide. Starting on page 13 he shows how to take the cluster completly appart.
