Default Spark Plug Wire Order

Installing new spark plug wires on 1982 4.5 with new distributor cap. I have the pdf workshop manuals but can’t find the info. Do you just match the dist cap number to the cylinder number? If it’s more complicated than that, can you direct me to where the information is in the workshop manual?
thanks

The firing order is on the top of each cam cover.

Be careful with the caps. Some aftermarket ones do not have the correct order. The Bosch does

Thanks, I have the Bosch cap so I hope it’s right. Going to try starting the car in a few days for the first time in 25 years.

This should be pretty easy first put the engine to TDC.

Verify the cams and crank are lined up,
pull the cap and see where the rotor is pointing.

It should be at the hash mark in the distributor body,
this will be #1 then take your 27 mm deep socket,
and turn the engine CW while looking at it .

Note the direction of the rotor is turning.
Then you can make a diagram for the cap by using the firing order on the cam tower.
NOTE the cap will only fit onto the distributor one way.
