Transmission flush
I have a 88 S4 with 90K and not sure about the PO maintence history on the car. Car is great with no problems but I would like to do a BG trans flush. I have been told that it might not be a good idea if you don't know the service history, that it might dislodge some crud and cause problems. Is it best to just do a fluid change or the flush. Any thoughts on this ?

Tazz,
Empty the gearbox and the converter -Remove the oil pan - Disconnect (open) one of the oil hoses to the cooler and blow with reduced air (max one Bar) for emptying the cooler - Shift the filter unit

Hi,
as Erik suggests it is better NOT to "flush" the Auto trans. Drain the pan and TC and replace filter. Replace the ATF (Dexron 3) - Castrol's synthetic Dex 3 ATF "Transmax Z" works well in our cars
Best regards Erik!!!
Regards
Doug
