I like the Shark so much she's my daily driver as of now (my fav 931 is parked in the garage for the moment so I can enjoy the 928 S4 )

Btw, what kind of petrol consumption are you guys getting for yours? When I drive the 928 S4 (AT), I get approx. one week to 8 days on a full tank of 85litres. Of coz I did lotsa tricks to get that, haha... My guy uses 1/4 tank a day each time he drives... so that's 4 days to a full tank...

On average, I drive it maybe once a week - much less during the rainy season. It won't see the light of day much in the next months, I guess. In the last year I put about 3k miles on it, maybe a little more because of the trip to Sharktoberfest.

Part of why it gets driven so rarely is because I don't drive much at all these days. I work out of my house, and have no commute. For errends or client visits I use the Saab, and I don't like to drive the 928 at night (the lights of the trucks are so much higher and 'blind' me - I don't have great night vision to begin with).

Maybe I'll drive it again more in the future. Who knows what will happen in the next few weeks... It will never be a dailly driver, though.

I've got over 350,000 miles of seat time over 14 years on both 928's with only 3 trips on the rollback...one just last week when the heater control valve exploded while passing as slower moving vehicle on a back country road.

I don't drive my 928 nearly as much as I should, I have two reliable daily driver type vehicles that get much better mileage. However when the the drive is just as important as the destination there is only one car I take....928... It seems like every trip I take in the 928 is much faster than my other cars?? I'm not really driving any faster (ya right), I just enjoy the drive that much more! I try to drive it every few days just to keep the battery up and everything flowing nicely, but don't plan on taking it out in the rain!!! Hopefully we'll have a dry winter!

I plan to drive mine daily from April until December 1. Rain or shine. They aren't collectible. They never will be. They won't go up in value. You can always get them repainted and repaired. They survive better when they are driven rather than sitting. I'm driving mine.

I wish I could drive mine each day, but I really don't like leaving it out in the weather (while I'm at work), so I drive the GMC Z-71. Then again, if I had the extra $$, I would certainly buy another 928 which I could use as the daily driver and keep the better one in the garage for weekend adventures/car shows, etc.
I drive mine 2-4 times/week - depends upon the weather, will be driven less during winter.

I've driven my 84 virtually every day for that last 7 years. About 60k worth. The days I don't drive it... I drive the 78. It is absolutely true that the more you drive them... the better they run. I routinely drive to and from Detroit from Virginia (at least 10 times this year) and have had no show-stopper problems. Maintenance is a chore but if you stay ahead of it... they're absolute animals as daily drivers.

I have a company supplied work truck that I use every day on the job and take it home at nite. Hey, I'll let the company pay for my commute gas. I take the shark out on weekends, but not every weekend. Guess what I'm saying is that I drive it when I can. When not being driven it stays in the garage.

I had to compromise on my reply; I clicked 2-5 times a week when the 928 is my daily driver every 3rd week.

In the past, I used my '84 928 as a daily driver. I now have a '93 GTS that I use for fun and leave the daily driving to my Audi A4. One issue I haven't seen addressed here is snow performance. With my '84 I soon learned that the 928's power and wide tires made it less than ideal in snow or other slick road conditions. I tired snow tires with modest improvement in traction. If you live in an area that is cold and snowy in the winter, be sure to consider that angle in making your decision.

Wow!

This forum is so excellent! Your replies have made me feel much more comfortable about going ahead with my plan. I will probably sell my 1958 Jeep CJ before Christmas (on eBay) and then maybe plan to buy my (first?) 928 in the Spring when the snow here in Boston is gone. It looks like with the help of all of you on this list, including a few local guys I have met here, owning a 928 will give me at least equal time in the car as I spend under it.

Thanks!
GW
