Any good paint shop that mixes their own paints can prepare a touch-up bottle. No need to order from some long distance place, just call a few high-end body shops.

I have an 86 951 with several chips on the hood and nose. Went to paintscratch.com and I was wondering if I really needed the clearcoat? According to the site, 87's and above need it, otherwise a single stage will work. Thoughts for the 86? Thanks!

Could be, but for any solid color the single stage touch up should be fine. Metallic paints require to be sprayed and then clear coated for best results.

When I ordered the Guards red touch up paint for my Big reds it did not come with a clear bottle. The touch up paint from Porsche comes with 2 bottles if it is clear coated. One color and one clear.

Randy

Midnight blue 37W has a clear coat. The Amazon Green paint was no longer available through the places mentioned. I ended up getting it from the local Porsche dealer. With PCA discount it ended up being $18 but better than not having touch up paint.

Thanks, Anthony.

DR indicates that the 37W (Midnight Blue Metallic) is NLA, so he sent me (from memory) 39 C (NachBlau Metallic). It arrived yesterday and includes a bottle of clear coat. I'll try it behind the gas cap first to see how close it matches.

Also arriving yesterday from him was my new stainless twin-tip RMB!

Randy if it isn't the same color you can still get it from Porsche directly.

You will like the RMB, I installed mine a couple of weeks ago. I expected it to be louder but I am glad it is not. It adds a nice grunt to the car especially when you wind it out and there is a little burble when you decel under load.

Enjoy

Hey I recently ordered some from an outfit called EagleDay, here's the link: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/eagleday/index.html

It was Amazon Green Metallic, came as Porsche-brand paint, the price was fine, and the match was right on.
