Question Removal of tyre pressure sensors

I am having difficulty in removing the type pressure sensors from my wheels. I want to have the wheels refurbished and this involves oven baking the new powdercoat at 200 degrees c (370 F) and I have been told that will destroy the sensors if left in position on the wheel. ...... can anyone help?

Porsche makes a special tool for removing the sensors.

It depends on whether you want to keep the system intact. Replacing the sensors is a ridiculously expensive proposition. There's a major risk of damaging one or more sensor and/or retaining nut if they've been over torqued. The sensors and nuts are about $3500.00 for a set of 8!!
If I were you I'd either leave the wheels as is, have them refinished without the powder coating, or buy a new set of wheels.
Where are you and what are you driving?

They really shouldn't be THAT hard to get off. There are actually two tools to get them off.......one for the nut, one to hold the sensor in place when installing/uninstalling.

I would use a little penetrating oil on the nuts and threads of the sensor......let it sit a while, then attempt the nut removal again. When reinstalling they should only be torqued to around 15 ft lbs if my memory serves me right.
