For what it's worth, there were 476 1995 GTSs worldwide. If you put them in order by production number, obviously the car that became 459 was planned 1/4 of the way through the production schedule, while the Perlglanz was the 7th to last production number.

Also for whatever it's worth, here's a comparison of the various dates listed in Porsche PET database extracts. Since I don't know what each of these dates really signifies (or which of them one wants to choose as what constitutes 'last'), I can only provide the numbers for what they are.

Date of production:

0459: 9-8-95 (tied with at least two other ROW 95s for latest production date)
0137: 9-8-95 ( 2.5 months after the next-latest US production date)

Invoice date:

0459: 11-2-95 (2nd to last among the ROW cars, #0450 has an invoice date of 11-21-95)
0137: 11-20-95 (Last among US cars by nearly 5 months)

New vehicle warranty date:

0459: 11-2-95
0137: 7-13-96 - wasn't sold for many months post-production, of which I think we know the story)

By these data points the Perlglanz car was scheduled for production later, has the same production date as 0459, and was invoiced and sold later. But #0450 has a later invoice date than either of them.
Thank you for the info, Rob.

I agree with you about the dates definitions. At the end, it doesn't really matter but it's funny anyhow. 0459 was really intended as the last 928 and planned many months ahead, it seems, from the order number (0096).

How about the last manual?
Porsche has a blue 1995 GTS which they claimed was the last manual but i doubt it actually is. A friend of mine owns a very special and late Euro, in Arena red, with painted rims and lot of wood pieces.

I'm trying to find the VHS tape in my collection to rip the portion that may apply here. I have a VHS tape from the 80's detailing the specs and build process of a 930S Turbo Slant nose painted pearl white. In the video they interview someone from the Porsche dealership in SoCal that ordered it for the customer. He talks about the "wish book" of special options that can be ordered (like the sport steering wheel, special paint, the slant nose etc....)

He goes on to explain the 911 starts out on the regular line, then at one point is pulled off for the special modifications to be added by that team (he specifically talked about fitting the 944 headlights) and once completed there, goes back on the line to be completed with the rest of the production line.

What I found most interesting is the paint. He said Porsche doesn't like using pearl paint and they painted the car 6-7 times before the were happy with the results. Meanwhile across town, Audi was painting half their fleet in the same color and is it a nightmare if you need to paint it (I had one). Many of those Audi's were totaled by minor fender benders since the only way to make it perfect was repainting the whole car.

This is the tape, I still remember being at the mall with my mom and asking to buy this:

I have to agree about the Pearl Effect paint. I had a 1992 Audi 80 back in the day with Midnight Blue Pearl Effect which was a spectacular color. Sometimes in ‘94 I had a run in with a truck that required a new passenger rear door to be installed, and the dealership took 2 tries and an independent shop 1 try in attempts to get the color right, and it was never right. Needless to say, beautiful new, but IMPOSSIBLE to match.

Assume of you know I spent a good deal of time trying to locate this car.

Alas, it was captured by Alex - where it belongs!

Hopefully this captures the amazing pearlescent effect of the paint.

This car is beyond beautiful!

I haven't seen a picture of this car which reflects the reality of the paint. It's very special and quite cool actually.

And to be honest, I would love to see this car again, now that it's clean inside and outside

I'd be afraid to drive it. If something happened to that car while under my care, I'd never be able to forgive myself. HUGE kudos to those who racked up the miles on it though, no reason to moth ball it away either. Just my own personal paranoia.

Well I shouldn't be surprised, I found that video on YouTube.

If the link doesn't work, fast forward to 13:26. I think it's pretty interesting him explaining how the "wish book" process works.

Porsche manual 1995 is wp0zzz92zss800283.
Is there anything interesting about this one?

Here are pictures of this one, in... 2002.
Brand new car, it was (310 km at the odometer), and certainly still is.

I can't remenber the name of the Gentleman at the wheel but I remember that he was from the USA.

My 5-Speed 1995 GTS (Euro) is #232. Car was a factory car as all the stamping for service for the first part of its life were factory service…

Was it in UK maybe 15 years ago? I bid on arena red '95 manual in eBay.co.uk back then. Car had been in UK for some years. On first eBay round I won but reserve was not met. On second round I think someone in Sweden won and it possibly sold and left UK. Price was around £16k IIRR. Those were the days of cheap GTS. As I understand condition wasn't perfect at the time but special specs made it interesting. Arena red was new color for 993 and I think cars first user was factory employee explaining it and specs. Car had all the wood options and its only arena red 928 I have heard of.

There was such a car at the Euro 1999. The registration was B16 GTS.
I will ask my friend about his car. I may have confused the two cars, as both were there. If I remember correctly, B16 GTS had body color painted rims.

Yes. It was one I bid on. At the time LHD car in UK meant very few were interested. Its one of three '95 MY 5sp that got away from me back then.

Another was later VIN German car than that midnight blue factory low km's 5sp. This one was cobolt blue and 16k euros at used car dealer in Germany. It was one of least optioned GTS made. Not even radio was added in.

Third was fully loaded ex factory executive company car with some engine problems for sale in Germany. Full leather and wood as expected. It sold very quickly before I even had time to get to airport.

"Eiffert" comes to mind... Can anyone verify?
