Big Silvers (brakes & rotors)
Needed new pads...good a time as any to change things around. Never did like the big blacks so I changed them to silver to better match the car....and try to keep up with modern times. Got new pads, sensors and a new set of cross drilled rotors. Painted up the rotors and calipers, painted on the new style PORSCHE logo on the cali's and I am pleased with the changes.
Now for the problem! My BRAKE PAD SERVICE light came on a month or two back. When I pulled the old components, there was indeed a worn sensor. Now that I have put everything back together, I still get the BRAKE PAD SERVICE light. I checked all of the new sensors with a multi meter and all are fine. I thought maybe I needed to disconnect the battery for a bit to clear the code...which didn't seem right to begin with, but I did it anyway. Still have the light. I did a search on the Rennlist and found what I already know. It is a very simple system...a closed loop. Unless this is a coincidence, I cannot see how I have a bad connection or break in the system. I do not expect that I would need the Hammer or the Tuner to clear this would I??? Worse comes to worse, I'll have to do the trace chase. Any suggestions though?

I don't have any answers for you, but I wanted to say that the brakes look very nice with the silver calipers and the new rotors. You're right, they do have a modern look to them.

1) Are you sure you have the right sensors - yes? GTS Fronts are different IIRC.
2) Are they pushed all the way home in the connectors.
3) If you have an early 93 also check the connectors in the engine bay.

You did a great job on the brakes now throw your closest friend the keys and ride alongside so you can see your work in motion. I would check the connections at the wheels for the light, and check with a multi meter the sensors for continuity

Thanks guys. As soon as I have a better shot of the whole car with the change, it will make even more sense.
Roger...Thanks again for the rotors btw...was a bit perplexed when I saw the rears were non-directional...looks a tad weird with the cross drilled holes going the wrong way...
I double checked the plugs...even crimped the females so they have a bit more grab just incase the connection wasn't being made at the plug. Sensors are properly inserted into the pads, but that is not the issue...you can have all the sensors dangling and they would still close the circuit. I have a later 93. I guess I am just going to have to track it down manually....that sucks.

they take the car up to a nice height too!

Looking great as always......
On the sensor....if I remember correctly the circuit is normally "open" and once it closes the warning goes off.....if all the sensors are installed correctly (probably are)...then there must be a broken sensor causing a short & the light....does anyone near you have a hammer or the PC clone? Maybe Louie?

Man, I just ordered black letters to do my new calipers. Was going to paint them red but I thought silver with black letters would look good. Now I know it will, I just won't be the first. VERY, VERY NICE!

You know that would make your GTS go faster... and STOP faster too!!! A little contrast is OK, no really, it is... Well, I guess your tires are still black... so far.
