The 03 accords have 240hp & weigh about the same as a 928....so your 79 has 220 hp.......with the lower gears of the accord....it makes sense he jumped ya.....I want to say those accords were rated at about around 6.9 0-60....which is a shade faster than the 79 928.....don't forget those cars are very easy to modify too

The pipe is nice and cheap, works perfect.....but the crack gets sooo expensive.
Speaking of, where is Mr.Smiley Brett with the 200mph run?

I abhor drag racing. It impresses me not one bit. In fact it is a sleeping pill for me. But...............I recall my adolescent days when I had my Chebbie...........
and here is what we said then: Do it with gears. I still say that. Dave said the truth: these cars aren't meant for drag racing. Mine has a 2.2 final drive. My car is smiling at 80 to 100, and cracking up at 100 to 140 mph. But if you must engage in such antics, do it with gears.

FWIW, I'm considering swapping out the stock exhaust on our 84 with a new Y-pipe; just to get a little more hp.

In 1980 a Z-28 or Trans-Am wasn't putting out 200hp. The 'Vette was allegedly 200+, but that may have been optimistic. The 240hp the 928's engine genereated was pretty damn impressive.
Today we have Camrys w/270hp, Accord HYBRIDs w/265hp and Chrysler Caliber SRT4s w/300hp from a 4 cylinder engine. We also have 500hp 'Vettes, and for that matter (probably) more 500hp cars now than we had 200hp cars in 1980.
There are plenty of cars these days that can beat a 25 year old 928 in race. And there are plenty that can't. And there were VERY few that could do it when it was new. You have nothing to be embarrassed about.
