Surprise and Embarrasment --beat off the line by a Honda Accord
This morning, on a quiet stretch of road in a South Bay business park, a black Honda Accord, several years old, pulled up next to me, radio blasting Led Zeppelin. The owner looked over at me, smiled and revved his engine.
Ha! I thought, so on green I gunned it off the line with a little wheel squeal, and sure enough, the guy nosed me by 4-5 feet by third gear. It was fun, and close, but WTF?
So I looked the car up (or what I think the car is) and found this: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...rticleId=76668
Sure enough, this car beats the specs on my 30 yr-old shark, but barely. What can I do (legally, without spending 5k on a supercharger, and without major mods from stock) that will ensure this never happens again?

Exhaust - the stock exhaust on these cars is VERY restrictive. My 79 is only upgraded with headers and a very nice exhaust after the headers. On the dyno it put down 210rwhp. Very healty for a 4.5 liter 16V. I cannot remember where the ignition timing is, I know it's advanced a bit beyond stock.
Yes this is still 40-50hp shy of an S4, the OB's have a very nice weight advantage over the 32V's.
Other than that, get a blower. 350rwhp is just the beginning for my 81.

Actually when I said NOS for less than $1k, my setup actually cost me $500 (plus filling up the bottle). The problem is that it gets wickedly addictive and that bottle doesn't refill by itself. That's what prompted me to upgrade to the GT and get a blower.
Sorry, but you have to pay if you're gonna play.
NOS is your cheapest solution.
