I'll send you the one I took out of my '89 S4. I replaced it with one from 928 Int. 'cuz I thought mine was bad. Made no difference at all in the fuel gauge function; new (used) one looked in about same shape (good) as what I took out. You'll need a gasket unless yours is good.

Can you fry these things or are they completely mechanical? In a bit of backwoods panic during a no-start I applied voltage to a few too many things in an effort to get my [nonexistant] in tank fuel pump to fire. My fuel gauge no longer works but it might be due to voltage being applied in that direction... oops.
