Wooohoo!!! The fist one is what I think I've seen before - the second is new to me.

Thanks very much!

Destroyed Porsche "Maus", one of only two known made examples.

Just for accuracy's sake, the maus was a prototype that never saw action, the "ferdinand" was limited number production like 50 that debuted at Kursk and was a disaster. The King tiger with the porsche turret had a trap shot at the base of the front that did not do wonders for the driver.

The panther, tiger, and king tiger were on the other hand phenomenal tanks and their only weakness was low production. I have been in and on those and others at the bovington tank museum at the british army proving grounds. Just like our panzer (928) those tanks are just awesome sights. The panther being a slight favorite.

I like the Panther too.

I've went to the Aberdeen tank museum once a few years back. They have almost all the real WWII and even WWI tanks there too. It's awesome and HUGE!!!

You are right though, only 2 Maus were ever built, i've no idea how they were destroyed, but as can be seen in the pic i posted above one of them clearly was blown to many pieces.
You're right about the Ferdinand too btw.....another overly-complex and unreliable disaster.

Jagd Elefant aka Ferdinand.

I've recently been to a 'track day' at Bovington on the tank proving concrete circuit. It was an interesting experience, and we were given a display by one of the tanks during the lunch break. New thread and photos to follow in due course.
