Default Risky Biz Shark Sound

Saw the movie again last night - love those 928 scenes. The question I have is how did they get the car to sound the way it does in the movie? Did they overdub a Ferrari or something? It doesn't sound like any 928 I've heard, altho maybe that's how the OB's sounded with exhaust mods? Inquiring minds want to know...

This issue was discussed in the near past. Some favor that the sound engineer ran the audio tape faster than the cine accounting for the higher "RPM" sound.

I remember a couple of years ago, a similar thread where someone that worked on the movie said that they over dubbed a Ferrari engine sound for the movie He made a statement something to the effect that the original sound was to mild for the car

As I have posted in previous threads, I spoke to Lewis Johnsen who just filmed his Risky Business 928 documentary about his quest to find one of the 5 cars used in the movie.

According to the production notes, the sound was dubbed in from a 79 928 that had a rusted through rear muffler.

With exhaust mods, you can get an the 16v's to sound like that.

Check out this video, watch at 5:30 when the gold weissach 928 drives by it sounds almost exactly like the RB car.

It is definitely a Porsche V-8, not a Ferrari.

I guess better poke a hole in my muffler! It probably sounds different with the 32v in any event.

That's Dennis's Weissach (sueden here on Rennlist). He's got a Borla muffler. Best-sounding 928 I've ever heard.

You know what, I was just driving my 951 today and I have a 3" exhaust with just a Borla XR-1 and it sounds similar to Dennis's car when I hit 6k on the funmeter....

I have a 1982 Weissach and I must have a hole in the pipe. Mine has a deeper throat sound.... (please no comments). Maybe they used a Weissach for the sound take?????LOL

I see that 928 International has a stainless "Borla" replacement exhaust system for my 84S. Has anyone ever heard this in action? (page 20 catalog)
