Rixter,
can you do this for an '81? I have no options sheet and nothing in the owners manual...i'd love to know more about my car as it (was) full leather and passenger's side electric seats I am wondering if it was a "loaded" one.

Thanks!

I can pull codes if it's a 17 digit vin.. otherwise you need to go thru PCNA

If no one decides to buy this one. I might be interested in some stuff.
But Get it running. Someone new may really enjoy a Brown Bomber.

Is there any prohibition or negative consequences to just posting the VIN here and letting whoever see what they can find out? Remember, this isn't my car, it's the lady up the street selling it for her son....I have no problem posting the VIN for all to see...it's not like someone's going to rip it off based on a VIN.

BTW....I went and took a closer look at it..the body is clean...no dents, rock chips or any visible damage...doesn't mean it hasn't been repainted. it has a nice brown leather interior that goes nicely with the exterior suggesting it's original with 8 way electric seats that work....the driver's rear leather panel inside the hatchback is coming away from the side....it has brand new GoodYear Eagle RS...something or other's on it. The hub caps look original with the Porsche crests and are nice....car needs a good wash and it should show pretty well. I hope Richard comes by tonite and gives it the once over then he can give me his assessment and I'll post it.

We post our VIN's with regularity. Most car's have them in plain view so there isn't any apparent security issue. It does allow an interested party to run a car fax and check out options.

Rixter: I sent you a PM with the VIN. Go ahead and post it up for everyone to see...

Charley: I see you're right down the road in Tracy....

I went over to check it out with Chuck...couldn't get it started, I dont think the fuel pump was working. I'll look for a relay in my garage, and try again tomorrow.

Looks like an average car for 145,000 miles. Didn't go over it too closely, no reason to if it wont start and drive. No LSD on the option code. I'll report back tomorrow night with some pics.

I believe the option was available in all years, but even an open diff. can act LSDish in low traction situations (if I recall correctly).

Interesting. When I get it off the lift and the exhaust is fixed I'll have to figure it out. Any way to tell by looking at the trans?

Pretty easy to tell when it is on the lift.... in neutral spin one wheel (rotor if wheels off) and let us know what the other wheel (rotor) does
