Default Combustion leak coolant tester

I have a 1987 S4 and I thought that the coolant had a Hydrocarbon smell. I made a few calls and found this nice tool from NAPA its called a Block Tester
PN.# BK.700-1006. About 49.99
This tool consists of a bottle filled with a blue liquid, ( the test fluid)
And a clear tube with rubber ends one end has an opening that is ducted up from the bottom and the opening goes to one of those porous metal type filters, the other end has an opening for a hand sized ball pump ball (think Turkey baster sized ) the pump has a ball seal on one side and the other end is open.
the open end fits into the top of the tube and is used to draw the hot coolant gasses from the coolant tank up through the filter.
You pour about 1 oz of the blue fluid into the tube, insert the ball pump and then insert the bottom into the top of the coolant tank or radiator, begin squeezing the hand pump so that the coolant gasses are drawn up through the fluid, for 1 minute
If it stays blue no combustion leaks, if it turns yellow then there is a combustion leak.
To test a V8 it recommends to remove the cats then remove all of the ignition wires from one side of the V ( you have to give it some gas to keep it running) start the car and let it run for 5 minutes ( to purge the coolant)then begin the test again.
If the fluid stays blue then swap sides and test again, you can also test for an individual cylinder but this test will take while as the engine should be run for about 5 mins to help purge the system. Anyway i have to fix tha radiator first as the pass side is leaking, so after thats done then a coolant test will be performed.
I will update as I get finished
